Reflection Time and Prayer of the Day

Good Morning Brown Clee!

Well here we are at the end of another week of remote learning.  It has been 6 weeks now since we have been together, including the Easter holidays, and we are really missing everyone.  The photos are wonderful and really help everyone to stay in touch and keep us together ‘virtually’, so again, thank you so much for sending them in!

When we return to school after the 6 week summer holiday, we always comment on how much everyone has changed; you are all taller (sometimes a lot taller!) and also more grown up and mature.  So we can’t help wonder how much we will have changed when we do finally get back together.  Being together is so important – and it is something that Captain (or rather Colonel!) Tom has sung about recently with Michael Ball.

We learnt about the amazing Captain Tom previously, and his amazing fundraising feat – he has now surpassed £30 MILLION!!  Well yesterday he celebrated his 100th birthday, and as well as that, his song has reached number one in the charts – it’s called “You’ll Never Walk Alone” – and that is true for everyone – as we are always together, as a team, even if we can’t see each other.  In fact Colonel Tom says himself “The sun will shine again, and we will never walk alone!” There are 2 videos to watch and listen to –

Captain Tom being given the news he is Number 1 in the Charts

YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE by Captain Tom and Michael Ball

We have another birthday to celebrate today – as Benji is a fantastic 5 years old today!  Congratuations Benji – we hope you have a great day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENJI

Prayer of the Day

Dear God,
We thank you for our friends and for the happy times that we share with them.
Help us to be a good friend to them.
During this time when we can’t play with our friends,
Please help us to find creative ways to keep in touch.
Thank you that you are our friend and will be with us always.
Thank you that you are always with us and never leave us on our own.
Help us to keep our eyes wide open to notice when other people need a friend to care for them.
Amen.

Class 1’s Sharing Post.

Good afternoon everyone!

Thank you once again to everyone for sharing what you have been doing. There has been lots of maths and English work. I have really enjoyed reading your favourite parts of Sharing a Shell. We have such lovely children in Class 1, who said that their favourite part was when they were all friends sharing a shell together. This made them feel happy.

I have also had a couple of video’s to share. One of Brooke dressing up and another of Jake doing some brilliant sounding and blending. I hope you enjoy them.

Reflection Time and Prayer of the Day

Good Morning Brown Clee!  It looks like it was a busy day for many yesterday, with indoor picnics and giant towers, puppet making and lots of art work including a giant Titanic!  Well done and thank you – as it really brightens my day seeing everyone!

For assembly today I thought it might be nice for a change to listen to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, who is leading the first virtual assembly ever this morning at 10am.  If you click this link it will take you to the assembly, that is due to be available at 10am.

Reading

Here’s today’s chapter from Pax:

Daily Video

Here’s today’s animation:

and some questions to get you thinking:

1.) What two things make the lady want to get a new robot?
2.) What does the new robot do with the old one?
3.) Why does the lady like the new robot at first?
4.) What makes the lady want to get rid of the new robot?
5.) After the old robot is kicked out, what makes it come back?
6.) Which robot would you prefer and why?

Writing

Today’s writing task is to create a poster advertising one of the robots from today’s video (you can choose which one). Things to think about: what images you may want to include, what information you wish to include and the price. Remember, if you’re advertising something, you’re trying to make the reader want whatever you are advertising (in this case a robot).

History

Our topic this term is going to be Tudor Shropshire. Last week in history, we looked at home the Tudors fitted within the bigger picture of British history. Today, you are going to see if you can find out the order of these Tudor Kings and Queens.

Hive Game – Results (+ update)

This week, the number taking part in hive games has become quite low, which is absolutely fine – they’re only there if you would like to take part. To help with this, we will only have one set of hive games each week (which will be on a Monday).

The times of these games will change slightly too. We will have the same set up, but with the first game starting at 2:00pm.

So, the next games will be next Monday – where there will be four hive games as follows:

– Game 1 (Y3/4 words – Medium difficulty) – 2:00pm
– Game 2 (Y3/4 words – Extreme difficulty) – 2:05pm
– Game 3 (Y5/6 words – Easy difficulty) – 2:10pm
– Game 4 (Y5/6 words – Hard difficulty) – 2:15pm

Anyone from Class 3 or 4 can join any of the games.

Here’s today’s results:

Game 1:
1.) George R
2.) Zak

Game 3:
1.) Zak

Reflection Time and Prayer of the Day

Good morning Brown Clee!  I hope everyone had a good day yesterday – from the photos that have been sent in, it looks like many of you were very busy!  I love all the cairns that were created!

Today I have another short video for you – I am not going to give you a theme – I wonder if you can watch it and have a think what the message in the story might be?

What did the story of Joy and the Heron make you think about?  For me, it was that kindness is so important, as if you are kind to someone, then they will more than likely be kind to you – Being kind means thinking about someone else and being willing to put their needs first.

We also have a birthday celebration today – as it is Kieran’s birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIERAN!

Prayer of the Day

Dear God,
Please help me to be kind towards others.
Please help me to be helpful, considerate and sympathetic.
Even at difficult times, when I’m busy or tired, help me to respond to others in the way that I would like to be treated.
Amen.
