How We Can Look After The World.

Class 1 have been learning about ways we can help to look after the world we live in. We have learnt about the impact of rubbish on the environment and have been on a litter pick around the school grounds. We have also had a lady from Veolia in to talk to us about the importance of recycling and to explain what happens to the things we recycle.
Another issue we have been discussing is plastic pollution and the affect this has on the oceans and wildlife.
The children have been creating posters to emphasise the importance of recycling and highlight the issue of plastic pollution.

The Very Lonely Firefly

One of our class books this term is ‘The Very Lonely Firefly.’ Some of the children in Class 1 have made up their own talk for writing version of the story which they performed to the rest of the class. This will help them to write their own version of the story.

Cough Lozenges/Sweets

We are aware that there are a lot of bugs involving coughs and sore throats around at the moment, but would like to remind parents that if they wish their child to have any medication, it needs to be handed in at reception and the appropriate paperwork completed.  This also includes cough lozenges which have specific dosages.

With regards to cough sweets, such as Soothers etc, we would kindly request that these are not sent in with children.

Our School Prayer

So proud of all our children who have created a school prayer through shared discussion about what prayer is, and what we want for our school.

Making Lamingtons

Today, Class 2 have been busy making Lamingtons. They are an Australian cake made from square pieces of sponge cake, coated in chocolate sauce and sprinkled with coconut. In English, the children have been learning how to write instructions so they have been following a recipe carefully to make them.
