Reading

Here’s today’s chapter from Pax:

Writing

There are different types of nouns. See if you can colour this in (you can use different colours than stated if you wish):

Nouns

Here’s some notes if you need a reminder.

Common nouns are names for everyday objects – e.g. pen.
Compound nouns are names formed from two separate nouns – e.g. bedroom.
Abstract nouns are names for ideas, thoughts or feelings – e.g. happiness.
Pronouns are not actually nouns but can be used in the place of a noun – e.g. he.
Collective nouns are names for groups of things – e.g. herd.
Proper nouns are names for specific things – e.g. England.

Daily Video

Today’s animation comes as a recommendation from Alex:

Here’s some questions to get you thinking:

1.) What did the girl always want to be?
2.) What was the girl’s name?
3.) What did her father do for a job?
4.) What did her father do with the girl’s shoes when she broke them?
5.) What do you think the girl regretted?

Science

In science, we are going to look at “taxonomy” or the classification of living things. All living things fit into different groups. The video below tries to explain this:

Don’t worry if you found some parts of this video confusing – it discusses some quite tricky science.

Your task in science is to find the scientific name of 10 different organisms (try not to just have animals – plants, fungi and bacteria are living things too). An organism’s scientific name is based on the genus is from and the species of that genus. For example, humans are the species “sapiens” from the genus “Homo”; therefore, their scientific name is Homo sapiens (sometimes written as H.sapiens).

Sharing page – 24.4.20

Thank you for all the great work and photos you have sent today. If you still want to do the poster of what you miss about school and send it to me over the weekend or on Monday, that would be great.

I hope you all have a relaxing weekend!

Afternoon update – including Running Challenge

Following on from Chloe’s lambs from earlier on in the week, here’s some photos of Aggie and some of hers:

Alex and her brother and sister have made a water slide in their garden:

Zak has been testing out the bridge he made using his bike:

and camping in his garden:

George Be has sent in a picture of a robin – which is nesting in his shed. You can just make out the top of its head.

and here’s a picture of George Be playing balloon tennis and George R doing his laps around his garden:

Here are some the bridges made by Elliot, Samuel and Ellowyne.

Here are some self-portraits by Alex, Samuel and George Ba:

And, some of the fantastic work that has been sent in over the past couple of days:

Here’s the scores so far on our running challenge:

Falcons with a resounding lead! Remember to keep sending in your distances – which I will add to the total. I will reveal which house is leading again next Friday.

Some of you sent in some bike riding distances (which is absolutely fine!), but, when inputting the data, I did adjust the distances slightly to ensure they were fair along with the running distances

Class 1’s Sharing Post.

What a beautiful day it has been today! It has been lovely to see you enjoying the weather and taking your learning outdoors.

I have been sent another video from one of the children in the class to show me their brilliant reading. Thank you to everyone who sends something in, I look forward to receiving them every day!

Here are some photos of what people have been up to today;

What is Coronavirus? – for children

The Shropshire Library Service have kindly shared a useful book for children on the coronavirus. It is illustrated by Axel Scheffler (illustrator of The Gruffalo) and helps explain the current ongoing situation in simpler terms.

Reflection Time and Prayer of the Day

Good Morning Brown Clee!

Today we continue to think about our Value of the half Term – Thankfulness.  We have been thinking about all the wonderful things that we have to be grateful for such as the countryside, animals, birds and sunshine.  But we also have to be thankful for our health, especially at these times, when there are so many people suffering.

There is a story in Luke, in the New Testament that retells the story of the Thankful Leper.

Prayer of the Day

Heavenly Father,
We thank you for all the people who care for our needs and the needs of others.
We pray for all who work in hospitals and doctors’ surgeries today.
Please help them in their work and keep them safe.

Teach us to show our gratitude for what we have
By caring for those around us,
And for the wonderful world in which we live.
Amen.

Today is a special day for Joshua as it is his 6th birthday so please join in and wish him a happy birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSHUA

Daily Activities – 24.4.20

Good morning Class 2! There are some great Titanic models that have been built or are in the process of being built. They are looking brilliant, well done!

Please remember to make the activities fit into your family life, there’s no expectation that everything will be done. Do the amount that is right for your child and your family. If you feel they need more time on something, that’s absolutely fine, you can always skip lessons.

Class 1 Daily Learning Friday 24th April

Good Morning Class 1!

Here we are at the end of another week of home learning. Well done everyone, you have all been working so hard, in what are certainly different circumstances. Thank you everyone for all your support!

I had a lovely surprise yesterday… one of the members of class 1 sent me a video of them reading, to show me how well they were doing. It was great to watch them read and hear their voice. It got me thinking… perhaps others might like to send me a short clip of what they have been up to?

Thank you for sharing what you have been doing. I look forward to seeing what you have been up to and it is lovely to be able to share with your friends!

 Here are today’s activities:

Forest school: Mrs Rollings has suggested today’s activity.I know she looks at the website to see what you have all been up to. I am sure she would love to see some photos of you doing today’s activity.

Today’s activity is a sensory game:

Can you find an area with several different trees? Ask someone to blindfold you and carefully guide you to stand in front of a tree. Feel the tree carefully up and down. Is it rough or smooth. hard or soft, warm or cold, wet or dry?

Can you feel any patterns, cracks or holes? Any branches or twigs? Move carefully away from the tree and remove the blindfold. Can you guess which tree you have just hugged?

Year 1 spellings: Get your parents to test you on your weekly spellings. Let me know how you get on. If you need to move onto the next spelling list please let me know.

Music: BBC music- The Big Ship Sails on the Ally- Ally- Oh.
