Hive Game

Just so you are aware, the hive game will show the top three scores – not everyone like it does at school.

The game will start in 2 minutes – so if you want to play, make sure you’ve entered your code.

Spelling Shed – Hive Game

The code for today’s hive game is 134058.

I’m not sure if this will work first time – but we’ll see…

It will start at around 13:05!

Life Cycle of a Butterfly Video

It has been brought to my attention that the link for the video of the life cycle of a butterfly doesn’t work.

Please try: https://youtu.be/3kZD6rlSLUw

If this still doesn’t work, try putting ‘life cycle of a butterfly’ into the search engine. The video I chose is on you tube and was uploaded by ClickView.

Thank you for keeping me informed!

Outside Exercise!

The children who we are providing Care in school for have had a good run before we enjoyed lunch together as we wanted to make the most of this gorgeous weather!

Daily update – 23.03.20

Well done Class 4. I’ve already had lots of questions and some fantastic maths work sent. Some have already even accessed their own accounts which I had set up. They can access their own email account by going to Office365 or you can download the outlook app on a phone/iPad. Their email address is lastname.firstinitial@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk (e.g. jones.s@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk) and their password will be Password 123 – which they will have to change.

Well done to George R – who sent in his EBM before I’d even had a chance to check the website!

I haven’t seen a correct answer to the challenge question yet though – though Alex has got very close!

I’ll post all of the answers to today’s work on Class 4’s page tomorrow morning. If you wish to send any work in or have any questions, then send me an email at class4@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk

Remember, we’ll be trying a hive game at 13:05 (not sure if it’ll work…). I’ll post the code at 12:55.

Also, if you could email any distance you run/walk and I’ll add them to our total for our running challenge!

White Rose Maths

Hi again Class 3,

I have just spoken to the fantastic staff at the White Rose Maths site. They currently have over 100,000 people trying to access the site at the same time and although the site hasn’t completely crashed they are aware that there are problems. They have reassured me that their IT team are currently working on solving the problem and have thanked us for our patience.

They have suggested trying to access the site again a little later in the day at the moment as the videos are more likely to play when the demand is lower.

It’s been great to see that Archie has been busy working this morning – I have just had a great mail with pictures of him hard at work. Well done Archie!

Class 1 news

Thank you to everyone that has sent emails so far.

It has been great to see pictures of so many of you hard at work. Please note that the class 1 email is:

class1@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk

Please keep on sending your pictures in!

Join in with Mrs Morris and Lola with your PE!

Well done Mrs Morris for demonstrating the PE workout – it’s a beautiful day so we could all go and do it outside!

Updated Guidance from Local Authority

Please see the following guidance from the Local Authority regarding keyworker Child Care:

Web links on class planning

Hi Class 3,

I have just been informed that the links on the Class 3 planning sheet aren’t fully functioning. It appears that there are two issues that I am currently trying to sort out.

Firstly, because the document is saved as a PDF the links aren’t working. These are the links that were on the sheet for today:

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/

www.primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk/Romans.html

Secondly, when you get to the White Rose pages it seems that they are no longer working correctly. I think that this may be because there are so many people trying to access them at the same time. I will email White Rose and get back to you all again later.

Please carry on looking at the work that can be done, it really doesn’t matter which order the tasks are done in.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Mrs Heath

Wow, what a workout!

I hope you all managed to join Joe Wicks this morning for his live workout. It’s a great way to start each day while we’re away from school. Even my dog, Lola, wanted to join in!

Daily Activities – Monday 23.3.20

Good morning everyone!

Most of you have got the pack that I sent home with some maths, reading comprehensions and grammar work, along with a yellow exercise book for working in. If you didn’t, don’t worry. The work in the packs is to dip into whenever you like. Each day I will set work for everybody on our class page. If you haven’t got the yellow exercise book, you could use your own book or use paper.

Click below on the links for all the activities and resources you will need for today.

Thank you for your support, take care of yourselves.

Class 4 – Activities at home – 23.03.20

These are today’s specific activities – click any pictures to enlarge them, or you can use the pdf version link next to the pictures. There’s no set time or order you need to complete these in; however, I am going to try a hive game on Spelling Shed at 1:05pm – I will post the code needed to join 10 minutes before at 12:55am and then post the results when we have finished (depending on whether it works…).

Any relevant answers will be posted tomorrow before the day’s activities.

Remember, you should also be reading your book and using TTRS, Spelling Shed and ReadTheory throughout the day – see the class’s information page for info on this.

It would also be great if you could complete some running/walking each day – which, if you could email me your distance, I can add to our termly running challenge . We have completed 724km (450 miles) so far – meaning we are on our return journey back to Norway and have 676km (420 miles) to go.

English

Sentence / Fragment / Run-on

Remember, a fragment is part of a sentence (or an incomplete idea) and a run-on is when there are two (or more) sentences not separated by a full stop.

Decide whether each of these below is a sentence, a fragment or a run-on:
1.) The blue and white cottage on top of the hill.
2.) If you have the time.
3.) Can you pass me the salt?
4.) Before you go, make sure the dog has been walked.
5.) My favourite sport is swimming, we don’t get to go often.
6.) The dog loved ham sandwiches, she would always get told off for eating them though.
7.) My sister, who is called Ellie.
8.) My sister is called Ellie.
9.) When the door opens.
10.) When are you going to get here?

Writing

Your writing task in English will likely take the whole week. You need to design and write a newspaper article on the video we watched a couple of weeks ago (Pigeon Impossible). If you can’t remember, here is the video again:

Remember, if you have any questions whilst writing this, then please don’t hesitate to ask.

Science / Design Technology

Your task for science is to design (through investigation) something which takes the longest possible time to fall. Have a think about all the things we have discussed in science about gravity and air resistance to help you with this and be a creative as you wish!

Once you have designed your “product”, time how long it takes for your object to drop (from a height of exactly two metres) three separate times and email me your results. Feel free to send in any pictures of your investigation and your “product” – whatever it may be.

If you have any questions/queries or you would like to share anything you have done at home, you can send emails to me at any time; I will respond to these between 10:00 and 12:00. Also, if you missed it, I have set all of Class 4 up on their on emails: see here.

I hope you’re all doing well. Hopefully, we’ll all be back in school soon as soon as possible!

Good Morning Brown Clee!

What a beautiful day it is! Please ensure you get into the fresh air and enjoy the sunshine today!

Your teachers will be setting your work on your Class News pages shortly. Please, please share what you are doing, through photos, summaries, emails via the class teacher’s email.  We are going to miss seeing you at school, so if we can see and hear about what you are doing, we can also share that on the website so your friends can see too!

Hello Class 2!

Hello Class 2 and families,

I hope you are all very well. Even though we are not going to be in school for a while, we are going to try and continue with our learning together as best we can.

I will post work on our class page each morning at 8.45am.

On our class information page there is also a list of activities which should be completed daily.

Please use our class email address class2@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk

to send me any work you would like to share with me or for any queries or questions.

Please let me know if your child is particularly interested in something and I will do my best to send you resources which will help them explore more about these things. Also, if you would like more resources for an area that your child is finding tricky.

I will get back to you between 10am – 12 each day.

Most of all, look after yourselves and let’s hope we are back together, at school, sooner rather than later!

Physical Challenge

We are only 460 miles short of reaching our goal of completing our class challenge of walking/running “Home from Rome” – let’s get to the finish line!

You have worked SO hard over the term to get this far. If you go for a walk, or a run, or do laps of your garden or field etc whilst you are off please try to work out the distance that you covered, so that I can add it to our total. Yesterday Lexi and I walked 4 miles, so there are now 456 miles left to go. Send photos if you can!

Class 4 Emails

As you are aware, work will be being set each day and found on Class 4’s news page, and any work to share or questions/queries should be sent to class4@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk – a response will be received between 10:00 and 12:00.

With the age of the children in Class 4, it would be great if they could be sending any work in to share and questions they may have themselves – rather than parents having to do this. To help facilitate this, I have set up each child with a school email address. For safety, these accounts have been set up so that they cannot receive/send emails from/to outside of school and can be monitored. If you wish to still send emails from another account, then that is also absolutely fine!

To access their accounts, they need to go to https://www.office.com/?auth=2.

To login in, their username is in the format lastname.firstinitial@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk.
For example, “John Smith” would be smith.j@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk.
Their password will be Password123 – which they will be asked to change when they first log on. If any passwords are forgotten, then please let me know as I can reset them.

The other great thing with these accounts are that children can contact each other – meaning that during this period, they can still keep in touch!

Tomorrow’s activities will be on the website by 09:00. I look forward to seeing everyone’s work.

Class 1 Home Learning.

Dear Parents,

Most children who were in school last week will have brought home a home learning pack. I will be referring to some of the items in the pack during the coming weeks. If your child was not in school and you do not have the resource needed please email me and I will endeavour to send it to you via email.

I will be posting a daily plan on the website to support your child’s learning at home. These will be on the website by 9am each morning. If you have any queries once again please email me at: class1@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk

Emails will receive a response between the hours of 10am – 12 noon.

Thank you for your continued support.

Nicky Fox

Thank you!

I just want to say a big thank you to families and staff for their amazing support over the past few weeks. These are unprecedented times, but we are dealing with them.

Every day brings new challenges, but the important thing is that we work together to deal with them.

As far as we are concerned school continues on Monday…just not face to face! Teachers will be setting work on the class news pages daily and we really want children and parents to email work, photos, comments to the class teachers through the class email addresses. I will be sharing news, ‘Thunks’ etc. Contact and communication is really important!

Remote teaching has never been done before….but we can do it!

Have a relaxing weekend, and we look forwards to hearing about and sharing  all the activities and learning that you are all doing!

Requests for Key Worker Child Care

At the beginning of the Department of Education’s keyworkers guidance the government states “As a country, we all need to do what we can to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading. That is why the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend.”

So therefore we need to know which parents on the key worker list, and who cannot safely keep their child/children at home need Child Care, and on which days.

Please can you contact us this morning to let us know if you meet these requirements and need care next week, letting us know which days you need care for.  As a school we will be able to offer it from 8.30am to 3.15pm.

Keyworker List

If your work is critical to the COVID-19 response, or you work in one of the critical sectors listed below, and you cannot keep your child safe at home then your children will be prioritised for education provision:

Health and social care

This includes but is not limited to doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics, social workers, care workers, and other frontline health and social care staff including volunteers; the support and specialist staff required to maintain the UK’s health and social care sector; those working as part of the health and social care supply chain, including producers and distributers of medicines and medical and personal protective equipment.

Education and childcare

This includes nursery and teaching staff, social workers and those specialist education professionals who must remain active during the COVID-19 response to deliver this approach.

Key public services

This includes those essential to the running of the justice system, religious staff, charities and workers delivering key frontline services, those responsible for the management of the deceased, and journalists and broadcasters who are providing public service broadcasting.

Local and national government

This only includes those administrative occupations essential to the effective delivery of the COVID-19 response or delivering essential public services such as the payment of benefits, including in government agencies and arms length bodies.

Food and other necessary goods

This includes those involved in food production, processing, distribution, sale and delivery as well as those essential to the provision of other key goods (for example hygienic and veterinary medicines).

Public safety and national security

This includes police and support staff, Ministry of Defence civilians, contractor and armed forces personnel (those critical to the delivery of key defence and national security outputs and essential to the response to the COVID-19 pandemic), fire and rescue service employees (including support staff), National Crime Agency staff, those maintaining border security, prison and probation staff and other national security roles, including those overseas.

Transport

This includes those who will keep the air, water, road and rail passenger and freight transport modes operating during the COVID-19 response, including those working on transport systems through which supply chains pass.

Utilities, communication and financial services

This includes staff needed for essential financial services provision (including but not limited to workers in banks, building societies and financial market infrastructure), the oil, gas, electricity and water sectors (including sewerage), information technology and data infrastructure sector and primary industry supplies to continue during the COVID-19 response, as well as key staff working in the civil nuclear, chemicals, telecommunications (including but not limited to network operations, field engineering, call centre staff, IT and data infrastructure, 999 and 111 critical services), postal services and delivery, payments providers and waste disposal sectors.

Keyworker information

The government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend.

They have now produced guidance of what a keyworker us here. We are still looking into how we could possibly do this safely and how we would staff this.

If you qualify as a keyworker and you have no way of caring for your child at home, please contact us and let us know. We may not have answers right away but will be doing our best to sort this out at such short notice.

Please May we remind you that this is Child Care and not teaching.

Forest School – Class 2

All of Class 2 will be doing Forest School tomorrow. Please could you send your child in their Forest School clothes. They can stay in those clothes for the rest of the day, so uniform isn’t needed.
Thank you

Class 4 – P.E. Kits

All Class 4 children should come to school in their PE kits tomorrow – they do not need their school uniforms.
