Hive Game – 25.03

The code for the first of today’s Hive Games is 935340.

This game will start at 13:10 – so make sure you are at the waiting screen at that time.

As soon as that game finishes, there will be a 2nd (much harder game) – which will start 5 minutes after the 1st ends. The code for this game will be 741806 – don’t join this game until after the first as this game will start later.

Morning update

Here’s some more work from yesterday sent in by Chloe and Ellowyne

Challenge of the day update:
Miss Relph has already sent in the correct answer to the first part of our challenge!

Also, Mrs. Fox has discovered that Audible (Amazon) are offering access to hundreds of free audiobooks! I’ve spotted three great books in there already (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, White Fang and Anne of Green Gables). There’s no sign-up required – just head to https://stories.audible.com/start-listen.

There will be another Hive Game this afternoon: the code will be up at 12:55pm and the game will start at 1:05pm – make sure you’re on the waiting screen at 1:05pm (otherwise you’ll miss the start!!)

As always, if you wish, send me in any question or pictures of what you’re doing at home.

Updated EBM answers from 24.03

George Ba spotted couple of mistakes on Q8 and 9 on the answers to yesterday’s EBM. Here’s an updated version:

Class 4 – Activities at home – 25.03.20

Before you start today’s work, check out yesterday’s answers.

As always, you don’t have to do these activities at a set time or in a set order. There will be another hive game – same time as before: the code will be up on the website at 12:55pm and I will start it at 1:05pm.

We could do with some more running/walking distances to reach our target – we still have 400 miles to go!

Keep on emailing me any questions and pictures!

Challenge of the day

Before you start this one, the circles are the “nodes” and the “edges” are the lines between the circles.

If you finished the first, have a go at this one:

English

Sentence / Fragment / Run-on

Remember, a fragment is part of a sentence (or an incomplete idea) and a run-on is when there are two (or more) sentences not separated by a full stop.

1.) The fox stood proudly.
2.) Until Alva gets here.
3.) Are you there?
4.) Running quickly.
5.) As quick as a flash.
6.) She’s my best friend, we have been since I was 5.
7.) Whilst you’re swimming, your brother will be playing hockey.
8.) There’s a snake in my shoe, I hope it’s not poisonous.
9.) Pizza is my favourite food it tastes delicious.
10.) The plant, which was a eerie shade of purple.

Writing

Some of you have finished your newspaper articles. If you haven’t sent me yours yet, I’d love see them.

If you do finish your newspaper article, you can have a go with this: choose a character from any book, story or film and write a small (about half a page) character description about them. You can draw a picture of them if you like. Your character doesn’t necessarily have to be human.

P.E.

You have two tasks for P.E..

Task 1

Your first is to research any sport (e.g. sprinting, skiing, badminton, shot put, swimming, show jumping) and design an exercise circuit.

Here’s two examples of circuits (the first for netball and the second for football):

Think about:
–  what type of exercises they would need to do for their sport
–  how long they need to do each exercise for (do they need short fast bursts or longer slower one)
–  how many activities you wish them to do (aim for at least 7)
– how you’re going to show this (you could draw pictures with small captions next to them)

Task 2

Your second task is a physical one. You need to film yourself keeping a ball in the air without it falling to the ground as many times as you can and send me the video – and the amount of times you kept it up!

The rules:
– you have to be hitting the object to keep it up (you could be using your arms/hands, head, feet, a tennis racket, a cricket bat or a combination of more than one thing)
– you don’t have to send me the first video you do – you can have practice goes
– the ball can be any size you want it to be . If you can’t use a ball, you can use something which is like a ball – except for a balloon…

Here’s a clip of tennis player, Rafael Nadal, keeping up a tennis ball (yours doesn’t need to be this good!)

Here’s a clip of footballers, Neymar and Messi, keeping up footballs.

If you can’t send a video, a picture would be fantastic instead!

Keep up the fantastic work – and keep on sending me what you’ve been doing at home – I especially look forward to seeing your PE challenge attempts.

Challenge of the day

This is how Alex showed how she solved this problem (much clearer than my long worded explanation):

The video was very tricky – if you watch this all the way to the end, it has the solution.

Ben got the closest to solving this.

How is everyone doing with their daily 10 minute run? I know Ida, Teddy and Zac, Millie and Poppy have been running. I would love to know how everyone else is getting on!

I am really looking forward to seeing what you have been up to today!

Day 3: Good Morning Brown Clee!

Another beautiful day in this beautiful county! It is very quiet not being in school, but I am looking forwards to seeing what everyone gets up to throughout the day! I am also planning on joining in with Joe Wickes’ fitness session this morning!

i found this guidance and it made me smile so thought I’d share it!  Listen to Baked Potato!

What a gorgeous day!

I have been looking through the class news pages and it is wonderful to see so many children doing fitness with Joe Wickes (I might try it tomorrow if I can find it!), researching saltwater crocodiles, solving maths problems, and searching for minibeasts, and much more! Thank you so much for sharing with your teachers so that they can celebrate on the website! It helps so much for everyone to keep in touch!

The weather is looking to be gorgeous again tomorrow. These are strange times, but by sharing activities and keeping in touch we can stay in touch and it will help us keep the Brown Clee spirit going!

Have a restful evening and look forwards to seeing what you’ve all been up to tomorrow! Well done everyone!

Class 1 update

Wow, I am amazed at all the wonderful things everyone is doing.

It is not the same as being in school but I love seeing what everyone is getting up to. Thank you so much to parents for keeping us updated and for sharing information. Please keep the photos coming:

Here are a few more that I received this afternoon, it looks like everyone is really enjoying the sunshine! Take care of each other.

Hive game – 24.03

Here’s the code for today’s game:
396514

Remember, the game will start at 13:05, so make sure you’re in at that time to play. You can join halfway through the game if you miss the start though.

Lunch time update

I have another hive game planned for today.

It will be the same time as yesterday’s: the code will be up at 12:55 and the game will start at 13:05. For those who have already emailed me today or yesterday, I will also send the code to those email addresses.

I have a had few questions about the Geography work for today – this will take quite a while to complete (I’d say at least an hour).

I’ve had some brilliant ideas and suggestions about the challenge questions – well done to Ben, Alex and Samuel who had some particularly creative solutions. Same as yesterday, I will post the relevant answers to all of today’s activities tomorrow morning for you to check. If you email me in your work, I can help with any errors then and there

This was the start of Alex’s working for the challenge question about the farmer:

We’ve also had another newspaper article in – have a look at Elliot’s below:
