Daily Reflection

Theme: KINDNESS

Earlier this term I introduced this beautiful book by Charlie Mackesy called “The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse”.  The first page is the one above – and we discussed it in our assembly.  I thought it particularly relevant in the current situation.

In our reflections at school, I share mine and then offer children the opportunity to share theirs – the rules are there are no right or wrong answers, we listen respectfully and we need to give reasons/explain our thoughts.

So my thoughts about this picture are that I think the boy has realised it is more important to strive to be kind than to try and be anything else, because if you are kind to others then they will be kind to you. By being kind you can bring a smile and happiness to others. In these strange times, a little kindness can go a long way to helping families live harmoniously. Over to you….(please feel to share your reflections or own prayers by sending to admin@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk so I can share them with the rest of the school).

Prayer for the Day

Dear God,
Sometimes, life is full of happy things, but sometimes, life is difficult.
Thank you for our friends who share things with us and help us.
Thank you that wherever we are and whatever we are doing,
You are always there for us and you are always ready to listen.
Amen.

Before you start today, check out Friday’s answers.

As always, you don’t have to do these activities at a set time or in a set order – that’s all up to you. Also, you don’t have to be doing work all day! Feel free to send in some pictures of videos of some of the other things you have been doing at home.

Reading

Today’s task is to create a quiz based on the book you are currently reading. The questions for this quiz should be based on what you have read yourself so far.

Aim for at least 10 questions for your quiz and try to make sure you vary the type of question your asking – don’t just go for all simple fact recall questions (e.g. In chapter 3, what was the teacher’s name?).You could include questions which:

– ask opinions and explanations (e.g. Based on chapter 3, who was your favourite character and why?)

– ask for evidence (e.g. Based on page 8,  what makes you think Ellie is a brave character?)

– tick box questions (e.g. true or false)

– language questions (e.g. find and copy a word from page 12 which means happy)

Science

Find a living organism (e.g. a tree, flower, insect) and make an observational drawing of it (i.e. sketch what you see). Try and make your sketch as accurate and detailed as possible.

Feel free to do more than one of these – if you wish.

Good Morning Brown Clee!

Good morning and I hope you all had a good weekend.  The sun seems to be hiding itself today but I am sure it will return soon!

The teachers will be setting their activities again for 9am – please do keep sharing the photos and work with your teachers.  It is lovely for us to see what you are getting up to, but more importantly it is a good way for you all to keep in touch with friends.  We might not be able to see each other face to face, but we can still see on here!

This week I am going to start posting a Reflective Thought of the Day and Prayer at 10am each day – to virtually replicate our assembly and collective worship.  If you wish to share your reflections or send your own prayer in to be used on the School News please email them in using the admin@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk email address.

Monday 30th March (1of3)

Good morning Class 3. Here are the first activities for the beginning of our second week at home. I have had some lovely emails from many of you over the weekend and will send another post a little later this morning with pictures of your different activities. I shall also update you on the “Home from Rome” challenge. Don’t forget to let me know if you have done any further distances over the weekend so that I can add them on!

First Week of Home Learning

Well done everyone for completing your first week of home learning!

It has been lovely to hear from so many of you this week. It has been great to be able to share what everyone has been up to. The weather has been beautiful this week, fingers crossed it will be as nice next week and everyone can continue to enjoy their learning outdoors.

Here are a few more photos that I was sent yesterday that I am sure you will enjoy! There has been lots of maths, dancing, identifying leaves and even learning about camouflage.

Don’t forget to check the website Monday morning for our new daily learning activities! Enjoy the weekend!

Shropshire Music and Class 4’s Folkwhistle learning

We thought we’d share what Class 4 have been doing during their music lessons with Shropshire Music Service. For this last term they all had a folk whistle which they could take home to practice, and had a weekly lesson learning the notes and fingerling, how to read music and learning to play as an ensemble. This is what they have achieved! Well done a class 4 (and Mr Harley and Mr Smith who also learnt alongside the children!).

A ‘Thank you message’ from Wild2Free

I have had an email from Rae Harvey at Wild2Free thanking us for our donation, which will help the kangaroos. It sounds like your efforts are much appreciated, so well done!

Sending a Hug.

Yesterday, Teddy, Archie and their mum walked 2.5 miles up the Brown Clee Hill to send a hug in the form of a helium filled heart balloon. Their balloon travelled 28 miles!

What a lovely idea in such difficult times! Here is a photo of Teddy with his ‘hug.’

Joel, Sam and Zac have been making Damper, a traditional Australian bread. Here’s the recipe from Joel’s mum if you want to give it a go!

You can join more than one game if you wish. Just make sure you’re at the waiting screen ready for the time the game will start,

If you wish to play the second game, just end the game (after it has finished) and enter the code for second hive game and wait for that one to begin.

After each round, it will show the top 3 scores for that round and then the top 3 scores overall. After all three games have finished, I will post the top 3 scores from each game on the school website. Good luck!

Hugs from Brown Clee!

What a lovely idea! Archie went for a walk up Brown Clee Hill yesterday and let a helium balloon go, sending hugs out during lockdown!

Well I have survived! Not sure the dogs were impressed to start with, but Sally wanted to join in after a while! Hope you all enjoyed your work out too….please share any photos by emailing them to your class teacher!
