Marmalade Loaf Cake

In English, Grasshoppers have been listening to Paddington Bear stories. We have also been learning about the famous landmarks of modern London after exploring how the city changed, after the ‘Great Fire’. We have enjoyed seeing these landmarks in the stories of Paddington.

This morning, some of the Grasshoppers made two marmalade loaf cakes.
They went down very well, with the children happy to have a second piece!

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter break.

Fire Service Talk

Yesterday afternoon, the Grasshoppers were very lucky to have a visit from Mr Bloore from West Midlands Fire Service.

We explored the fire fighting methods in 1666 compared to modern day. We also looked at how fire engines, uniform and equipment has changed and developed over the years.

Mr Bloore brought in his uniform for the children to look at and try on! We agreed that it is very heavy and hot to wear and that fire fighters do an incredible job in our communities.

The children were also taught about dangers and hazards in the home and the fire safety technique –  Stop, Drop, Roll.

We would like to thank Mr Bloore for his time visiting us, we really enjoyed the afternoon.

Gymnastics

Grasshoppers have been doing some brilliant gymnastics, this term. I’ve been really impressed with their focus and determination. They have also worked very well with their partners and supported each other to achieve the correct body position and helped each other to make improvements.

Homework – Grasshoppers

Please see the guidance below, taken from our Homework Policy, for what the children should be completing for their homework, each week.

We check the activity of each child on Spelling Shed and there are very few children accessing this, in order to support them with their phonics and spelling patterns.

Please email: grasshoppers@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk if you can not access Spelling Shed, Numbots/TTRS. The children should have their log in details in the front of their blue reading record.

Many thanks

Beach Party Fun

Fireflies and Grasshoppers had a fun filled beach party this morning. The children were fantastic and played brilliantly with one another. There was so much collaboration, support and sharing. It was a real pleasure to watch. Then this afternoon we had our special treat…ice cream! It was certainly the right sort of weather for an ice cream.

Beach Party Reminder!

Monday 18th July – Beach Party for Fireflies & Grasshoppers

Due to the hot forecast we have moved our beach party to the morning as it will be a little cooler.

* Come to school in a summer outfit – shorts/t-shirt/dress (No flip flops please)

* Please send your child to school with sun cream applied, a water bottle and a sunhat/cap.

* Don’t forget your £3 for an ice cream, in the afternoon.

Designing our own seaside towns

In Geography, Grasshoppers have been learning about the human and physical features of a seaside town. They have taken inspiration from one of the books we have explored this term called ‘Postcards from Crabby Spit’. The book is set in Australia and follows a family who are on holiday there.

The children designed their own seaside town, choosing the features that they wanted and planning where to place them.
They then chose a name for their town and wrote a leaflet to persuade visitors that their resort was the best place to visit, by describing some of the exciting things they would be able to see and do there.

Outdoor multiplication

Grasshoppers have been using leaves and other items in nature such as, flowers, sticks and crab apples to create representations of multiplication number sentences. We enjoyed working outside!
