The Schools Admissions Team at Shropshire Council have asked us to remind the parents of Year 6 children that the deadline date for applying for a place at your child’s preferred secondary school is Sunday 31st October. All applications are to be made on-line at www.shropshire.gov.uk/schooladmissions During office hours, anyone struggling to apply online is advised to contact Shropshire Council customer services.
Due to the Class Bubbles being reintroduced and an issue with the freezer in the school kitchen, the meals served to the children may differ this week from the menu shown on Parent Pay. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
We have just been informed by Whittles that due to unforeseen circumstances the Whittles bus is late and it will be Boulton’s providing this service tonight. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
Unfortunately we have heard from the school photographer that they have had to cancel their visit today. Once we have a rearranged date for them to come into school we will let you know.
Maureen in the kitchen has asked us to let you know that the roast dinner tomorrow will be replaced with pork instead of beef which is shown on the menu on ParentPay due to supply issues. All other options remain the same.
She has also advised that all Roast Beef lunches will be replaced with pork until further notice.
The Whittles bus has just arrived at school. The children will be with you shortly.
Whittles have called to advise that the bus has been delayed by around 10 minutes. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Ludlow CE School are moving their Open Evening which was due to take place next week to a virtual event on 1st October. Please see their message below –
Ludlow CE School – Open Evening – move to a virtual event
Following a discussion with Shropshire Headteachers, we have made the decision to cancel the Open Evening as a live, face-to-face event, next Wednesday 29th September. Although our number of Covid-19 cases is currently not high in number, the local community (and upper KS2 children, particularly) have higher numbers, and so it is not in anyone’s best interests to host an evening that could become a “super spreader” event.
We will hold a virtual event from 1st October, on our school website: www.ludlowschool.com, under “News and Events”.
We are very disappointed that our Open Evening cannot take place as planned, but we have taken this decision in, what we believe to be, the best interests of the wellbeing of the school and the community. Please do contact the school with any queries.
Many thanks, Paula Hearle
We have sent the annual forms out this week to all children who are known to have asthma or require the use of an inhaler in school. Please could these be returned as soon as possible so that any changes can be noted.
If your child has asthma or uses an inhaler which they may need to use in school and you have not received a form for completion, please contact the school office.
We have today e-mailed a letter regarding the swimming lessons which take place this term. Please could you complete and sign this and return to school.
Please see a copy below.
Good News everyone! Chartwells have called this afternoon to advise that School Meals will be back to normal from Monday. The menu next week is Week 3.
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding this week and providing your children with sandwiches.
Chartwell’s have asked us to apologise on their behalf for the incorrect menu being served today as we had another cook covering in the kitchen. The children had beef burgers today and will now be having fish fingers and wedges on Monday. Once again apologies on their behalf.
Due to Shropshire Council recently making alterations to the next Academic Year to designate Thursday 21st July 2022 as the additional Bank Holiday for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (this is actually on Thursday 2nd June 2022 during Half Term week), we have had to amend our PD Days. The PD Day which was on 21st July 2022 has now moved to Tuesday 1st March 2022. Attached is the revised Term and Holidays dates document.

As previously advised, future orders of school uniform will be made directly with Bristows on their website www.schooluniformfactory.co.uk and this is now live and orders can be placed.
We do have small stocks of school uniform here at school and this is available to purchase on a first come, first served basis. Below is a list of what we have remaining, if you would like to purchase any please e-mail, phone or call by the Reception window.
The Bridgnorth Lions Walk and Marathon returns this year on Sunday 12th September. There will be a marathon, senior walk, junior walk and new for this year a 5 mile family walk which is suitable for all children, including those in pushchairs. For more information and how to book see the posters below.
We are moving to a new way of ordering school uniform. After half term ordering of school uniform will be directly with the supplier Bristow Club and Sport in Bridgnorth via their website www.schooluniformfactory.co.uk. Many local schools already successfully use this system for school uniform.
When you order you will be given the option of collection from the shop, free delivery to school or if you would like this sooner you can pay for postage to your home address. Payment will be by debit or credit card. Below is an updated list of uniform which will be available and prices.
We do hold small stocks of uniform but will not be replacing these once they are sold. Stock of all items for age 5/6 is good, please contact the school office to enquire about items in other sizes.
Pippa has asked us to let you know that the deep fat fryer has been repaired and lunch tomorrow will be as planned – Fish and Chips.
The term dates and PD Days for the 2021/22 academic year are below and the diary on the website has been updated.
Unfortunately, the deep fat fryer in the school kitchen has broken down today meaning that Pippa is unable to cook the children chips for lunch. We are sorry that lunch will not be as previously advised.
Have your circumstances changed over the last year? If so, your child may be entitled to Free School Meals, see the qualifying criteria below.
Even if your child is in Class 1 or 2 and entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals, applying now means they can continue to receive a free meal in Key Stage 2. Schools are also provided with additional funding called Pupil Premium to support or enhance the learning of those pupils who receive free meals.
Claiming doesn’t mean that your child has to take a school meal every day, they can still bring a packed lunch if they wish.
You can apply quickly on-line at www.shropshire.gov.uk/free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals or completing the application form below and e-mailing to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have been advised by Shropshire Council that with effect from tomorrow morning, Longmynd Travel will be temporarily covering this route until O’Grady’s can resume. Pick up and drop off points and times remain as they were. If you need to contact Longmynd Travel their telephone number is 01743 861999.
Due to circumstances beyond their control the Whittles bus has been delayed this afternoon. The children will be home as soon as possible. Apologies for the delay.
Shropshire Council have asked us to advise all Year 6 parents that they will need to apply for Free School Transport before 31st May 2021. You can apply on-line at www.shropshire.gov.uk, by telephoning 0345 6789008 or completing a paper copy of the form which can be e-mailed or posted. Please see the letter and form below.
The Whittles bus has been delayed as there is a tractor broken down by the water tower. He will get to the school as soon as he possibly can but it is very likely that the children who catch this bus will be late. Whittles phone goes over to emergency calls after 3.30pm but you can still contact them as calls will be diverted to a mobile number.
