This Sunday 12th May, the Midland Oil Engine Club Tractor Run takes place starting from Lower Cockshutt Farm, WV16 6RF,  at 10.00am.  There will be lots to see during the day, plus ringing of the bells at approximately 4.00pm.  The day will culminate with a very special Worship on the Farm with Revd Joe at 4.30pm.  It promises to be sunny and warm too!

The following weekend on Saturday 18th May, is St. John the Baptist Church Fete.  This will start at 1.00pm with the BBQ.  Items for stalls are needed.  Please contact Marjorie Jones if you would like to run your own stall.  There will also be a plant stall with lots of beautiful homegrown plants.

Special Eurovision Menu – Tuesday 14th May

Laura and Carla will be serving a special Eurovision Menu on Tuesday 14th May.  As we are unable to change the choices on ParentPay for one day, if your child would like the Swedish Meatballs please select ‘Penne with Beef Bolognese’ and if your child would like the Swedish Vegeballs please select ‘Veggie Cottage Pie’.  Jacket Potatoes and sandwiches are also available on that day.

Friends of Brown Clee School (FOBCS) meeting – 16/04/2024

The Friends of Brown Clee School (FOBCS) will be holding their next meeting on Tuesday 16th April at 5.30pm here in the school.

They are looking forward to discussing ideas for fund raising and what to spend this on in the summer term.  Everyone is welcome to come to the meeting.

Shropshire Holiday Activities and Food Easter programme – what’s on?

Please find below a link to the Shropshire Holiday Activities provided by Shropshire Council and their partners over the Easter holidays. Children in receipt of Free School Meals can access these activities for free using the unique code which will be sent home today.

Many of these activities are also open to other children not in receipt of Free School Meals for a fee. The link gives details of how to book and whether the activity is open to all children.

England Football Under 15’s Schoolgirls

The England U15 Schoolgirls will take on Wales U16 Schoolgirls in a friendly fixture at The New Saints FC in Oswestry on Sunday 10th March with kick off at 11am. This will be the England schoolgirls’ only fixture on home soil this season before they fly to Ireland to play in the Bob Docherty Cup against the other home nations. Adult tickets are £5 and concessions are £2. Tickets can be purchased on the day and not in advance.

World Book Day Menu

The kitchen will be providing a special menu for World Book Day next Thursday 7th March which is shown on the attached poster. As we are unable to amend the menu on ParentPay, if your child would like a lunch off the special menu please make the following choices. For the Chicken & sweetcorn pie select chicken and golden rice and for Spaghetti with Meatless meatballs select Mac and Cheese.

Jacket potatoes and sandwiches will be available as normal.

World Book Day Menu

Year 6 National Offer Day for Secondary Places – 1st March 2024

Schools Admissions at Shropshire Council have asked us to send out the following message to the Parents of children in Year 6 in advance of National Offer Day on 1st March.

“In preparation for National Offer Day on Friday 1st March 2024 please can all year 6 parents check they can access their account on the Parent Portal on Shropshire Council Website Apply for a School Place (shropshire.gov.uk). If you cannot access your account or are locked out, please email school-admissions@shropshire.gov.uk or phone (01743) 255216 as soon as possible.  A member of  the Admissions Team will look into this and re-set/unlock accounts accordingly.”

FOBCS meeting – 27th February

The next meeting of FOBCS (Friends of Brown Clee School) will be held on Tuesday 27th February at 5.30pm here in school.  Everyone is welcome and we would love to see you.

Celebration Assembly Cancelled – Thursday 1st February 2024

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to cancel Celebration Assembly this afternoon. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Certificates from today will be included in next weeks assembly.

FOBCS Meeting 16th January

The next meeting of the Friends of Brown Clee School (FOBCS) will be held next Tuesday 16th January at 5.30pm here in school. Everyone is very welcome to come and join us.

No Celebration Assembly today 11th January 2024

There will be no Celebration Assembly this week for parents. We look forward to welcoming parents, carers and grandparents from next Thursday when assembly will start at 2.45pm and we will open the doors from 2.35pm.

Charity Night – Saturday 20th January

The Boyne Arms are holding a Charity Rock N Roll Bingo night on Saturday 20th January starting at 6pm. This is a family fun night with the bingo being played to music tracks rather than numbers. There will also be special characters visiting the children.
Food will be available with a menu being published soon.

Tables can be booked by ringing or e-mailing The Boyne Arms or on Open Table – please see the poster below for more information.

This event will be raising funds for Little Explorers and Friends of Brown Clee School.

Deadline for Reception September 2024 applications

We have been asked by the Schools Admissions Team at Shropshire Council to remind any parents who have children due to start in Reception in September 2024 that the deadline for applying is next Monday 15th January 2024. You can apply for a place on the Shropshire Website (please see the link below). If you know of anyone who has not yet applied for a place please could you let them know the deadline. Applications made after this date will be considered late by the Council and may mean that your child does not get a place in your first choice school.

Reminder to book school dinners

Firstly, we hope that you have had a lovely Christmas and wish you a Happy New Year.

Please could we ask that you log onto ParentPay and book school meals for next Monday onwards as we have noted that numbers appear very low. As the latest that you can book a meal for your child is 48 hours in advance, the latest you will be able to book a meal for Monday 8th January is tomorrow. It is also possible to book meals up until the end of this half term or up until Easter.

We look forward to seeing all the children again on Monday for another busy term.

Rearranged Dragonflies Parent’s Afternoon/Evening

The date for the rearranged Parent’s Afternoon/Evening for Dragonflies class is Wednesday 10th January 2024 between 1pm and 6pm.  Letters have been e-mailed to Dragonflies parents and a copy is attached below.

Please could you return the booking slip to the school office by Wednesday 20th December indicating if there are any time restraints. Appointments will be allocated on a first served basis.

Christmas Dinner – Wednesday 20th December

Don’t forget Pippa will be serving Christmas lunch on our last day of term, Wednesday 20th December. If you would like your child to have a Christmas lunch, please could you log onto ParentPay to order by FRIDAY 15th DECEMBER so that we can let Pippa know numbers in time for her to place the order for the food. If you do not know your child’s ParentPay log in, please let the school office know and they will be able to let you have this.

There will only be 2 options on that day – Roast Turkey or vegetable quiche – Pippa will be unable to provide jacket potatoes or sandwiches. If you would like your child to have roast turkey please choose Chicken Supreme and if they would like the vegetarian option please choose Chickpea & veggie puff. If you have ordered your child’s meal in advance and have chosen a jacket potato or sandwich, please could you log onto ParentPay and amend this.

Nativity Performance Tickets

There are still tickets available for both Nativity performances and all the waiting list requests have been sent down to class today.

Please contact the school office if you would like any additional tickets or you have not yet ordered any.

Nativity Tickets

If you have not yet let the school office know how many tickets you would like for the KS1 Nativity Performances taking place on Wednesday 13th December at 6pm and Thursday 14th December at 2pm, please could you complete the form below and return it to the school office as soon as possible. In the first instance tickets are limited to a maximum of 4 per family over the 2 performances. If you would like to be added to the waiting list for additional tickets once everyone has had the chance to order theirs, please let us know by indicating this on the form.

Please could you let the school office have this information by this Friday so that we can start allocating tickets to those on the waiting list next week.

Parents Evening is being held next Wednesday 6th December between 1pm and 6pm and a letter giving more information was e-mailed to parents yesterday. However, we have been notified that this has not been delivered to a number of Gmail accounts. Please see the letter below for more information.

John Ludlow has called to say that his 2 buses are running slightly late. We will keep the children in school until the buses arrive.
