Class 1 update- Wednesday 25th March

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope everyone has had a lovely day and has been enjoying the sunshine!

Below are some of the pictures I have been lucky enough to receive. I have had a message to say that children from the other classes in the school are really enjoying looking at your photos on the website so please keep them coming. I know lots of you are missing your friends (the staff are missing you too!) the photos are a great way to catch up with what your friends have been up to!

People have been busy exercising, writing about their pets, doing phonics and building bug houses/hotels! Well done children (and parents!) you are doing a fantastic job!

As we have PE tomorrow your first task is to exercise with Joe Wicks. Perhaps we could all (including Mrs Fox) do it in our school PE kit like Ida and Harry?

Good Morning!

Life Cycle of a Butterfly Video

It has been brought to my attention that the link for the video of the life cycle of a butterfly doesn’t work.

Please try: https://youtu.be/3kZD6rlSLUw

If this still doesn’t work, try putting ‘life cycle of a butterfly’ into the search engine. The video I chose is on you tube and was uploaded by ClickView.

Thank you for keeping me informed!

It has been great to see pictures of so many of you hard at work. Please note that the class 1 email is:

Class 1 Home Learning.

Dear Parents,

Most children who were in school last week will have brought home a home learning pack. I will be referring to some of the items in the pack during the coming weeks. If your child was not in school and you do not have the resource needed please email me and I will endeavour to send it to you via email.

I will be posting a daily plan on the website to support your child’s learning at home. These will be on the website by 9am each morning. If you have any queries once again please email me at: class1@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk

Emails will receive a response between the hours of 10am – 12 noon.

Thank you for your continued support.

Nicky Fox

Cake Sale – ‘Cakes for Koalas and Kangaroos’

Class 2 will be holding a cake sale, this week, on Thursday 12th March to raise money for koalas and kangaroos that have been affected by the terrible Australian wildfires. We will be sending the money to ‘Koala Aid’ and ‘Wild2Free Kangaroo Sanctuary’.
We would be very grateful if you could help us by bringing in cupcakes or buns for us to sell, on Wednesday or Thursday morning. We will be holding the cake sale on Thursday afternoon.
Thank you so much for your help!

Parts of a Flower

Class one have been learning about the different parts of a flower. They really enjoyed dissecting daffodils and identifying the different parts.

Class 1 School Trip

A letter has gone out tonight with your child, regarding a school trip for Class1. We are due to go to a nature reserve in Ellesmere to learn more about Charles Darwin. We will also be going on a mini- beast hunt in the woods.

In the afternoon we are going on a trailer ride to a nearby recycling centre where we can see what happens to the recyclable materials we put in our recycle boxes.

We have asked for permission slips and voluntary contributions to be returned by Wednesday 11th March at the latest.

Many thanks

Year 1 Spelling Shed League

We have set up all Year 1 children on a Spelling Shed League.  Everytime they play the game set up called YEAR 1 AND YEAR 2 KS1 FULL LIST they will win points.  All children start as Eggs, and as they earn more points they progress up through Larva, Drone, Worker Bee, Soldier Bee and eventually achieve Royal Bee!  Each time they move up a level they will earn a house point and receive a certificate to celebrate the achievement!

Please help encourage your child to access Spelling Shed at home – just 5 minutes a day will make a big difference!

The Very Lonely Firefly Display.

Class 1 have been reading ‘The Very Lonely Firefly’ by Eric Carle. They have drawn a picture about their favourite part of the story. They have then written a sentence from the story to go with their picture. We have used their work to create this fantastic display!

Spelling Shed- Reception

Please note that new assignments have been put on Spelling Shed for reception pupils. These lists will help to reinforce their phonics knowledge.

Many thanks

How We Can Look After The World.

Class 1 have been learning about ways we can help to look after the world we live in. We have learnt about the impact of rubbish on the environment and have been on a litter pick around the school grounds. We have also had a lady from Veolia in to talk to us about the importance of recycling and to explain what happens to the things we recycle.
Another issue we have been discussing is plastic pollution and the affect this has on the oceans and wildlife.
The children have been creating posters to emphasise the importance of recycling and highlight the issue of plastic pollution.

The Very Lonely Firefly

One of our class books this term is ‘The Very Lonely Firefly.’ Some of the children in Class 1 have made up their own talk for writing version of the story which they performed to the rest of the class. This will help them to write their own version of the story.
