Please see below a letter for parents with more information along with a consent form and information leaflet. Please could you complete the consent form, whether you want your child to have the immunisation or not, and return to school by Wednesday 15th November 2023 at the latest. If you require a paper copy of this form, please contact the school office to request one.

We did e-mail this to parents yesterday but it appears there was a problem with gmail.com accounts as these were all returned as undeliverable. We have e-mailed those parents again today.

Fireflies Visit to John The Baptist Church

Yesterday the fireflies had a fantastic visit to John the Baptist Church here in Ditton Priors.  This was as part of their R.E. learning where they were finding out about the features of a Christian place of worship and the features within.

We were met by Reverend Joe Simons who gave the children a talk and tour of the church, and then we had to go on a scavenger hunt to find different features of the church. We all really enjoyed the visit and learnt lots – thank you so much Reverend Joe!

Coffee and Chat Drop-In: Wednesday 6th December

We are trying something new on Wednesday 6th December – an informal Coffee and Chat Drop-In Session where parents can come into school for some coffee and cake and enjoy a chat with other parents. We find that we have conversations with parents on so many themes, where there are issues with sleeping patterns, fussy eating, difficulties with encourage reading, mild behavioural challenges, that we thought it might be useful to provide the opportunity for parents to share – as so many of you have got such great ideas to remedy these issues!

We have also invited Andrea Marshall, who is an experienced child behaviouralist, so that if you have any particular burning questions or concerns she is happy to chat it over and help in anyway she can.

So please share and come along – if it is a success it might be something we can repeat!

Completed Canopy

We are really pleased with the new canopy for the Fireflies outdoor learning area.  Despite the wet weather the building completed on Friday and the area is now fully useable, and will mean that the Reception children have a fully functional outdoor area for learning in all weathers.  It also means that we can resource and prepare the area to a much higher quality as resources will be better protected.

Missing Jumpers – cross country

We have been informed that some jumpers went missing after the cross country event yesterday afternoon. Please could you check that your child brought the correct jumper home and if not return it to school. Please could we ask that all items of uniform are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Thank you.

Does your child play a musical instrument or would they like to learn how to play one?

Musical Instruments Word Search, Crossword Puzzle and More

Learning a musical instrument has so many benefits for children!  Not only does it bring pleasure and a skill for life, it means brings opportunities to interact socially and play as ensembles.  We are fortunate to have Karen Kirkland from Shropshire Music Service, who comes into school every Friday to teach children how to play a musical instrument – from guitar to saxophone, keyboard to drums!  Please see below, information on Shropshire Music Service as well as a link to their website where you can register your interest.

My child wants to learn to play a musical instrument…

Start and End of Day Procedures while Canopy being installed

Following on from last week’s email, the work to install our new canopy for the Fireflies has started and as well as losing some parking bays, we have also lost the use of the Infant Playground for the duration of the work.  Therefore please note the following start and end of day procedures:
Start of Day:  Timings the same, children enter through main reception at 8:40am.
End of Day: Parents to go round to KS2 playground and collect children from there.  Fireflies will be brought out via the GP Room doors, and Grasshoppers will be brought out via the KS2 exit.  Can Firefly and Grasshopper parents please ensure they collect their child directly from the teacher.  Please do not use the staff car park as an entrance or exit, but use the pathway – see diagram attached.
Care Club and After School Curricular Club children will be collected from the main reception door.
Thank you for your patience and understanding – we are hoping the work will be complete by Friday and a new canopy will make a massive difference to our Fireflies, who will be able to access high quality learning outside more.
