PE Sessions

This week was our last week with Mr Chase from Bridgnorth Endowed School. The children have really enjoyed his sessions. Thank you to Mr Chase for making the sessions so much fun.

Forest School- All of Class 1

Please note that all of Class 1 children will be doing Forest School tomorrow morning. They will need to come into school in their kit and they can stay in their clothes all day. There is no need to bring school uniform to change into.

Class 1 School trip

Unfortunately, due to the current situation, the decision has been made to cancel the school trip which was booked for next week. Hopefully we will be able to book a trip for the Summer term. All payments will be held and carried forward towards the next trip.

Parts of a Flower

Class one have been learning about the different parts of a flower. They really enjoyed dissecting daffodils and identifying the different parts.

Class 1 School Trip

A letter has gone out tonight with your child, regarding a school trip for Class1. We are due to go to a nature reserve in Ellesmere to learn more about Charles Darwin. We will also be going on a mini- beast hunt in the woods.

In the afternoon we are going on a trailer ride to a nearby recycling centre where we can see what happens to the recyclable materials we put in our recycle boxes.

We have asked for permission slips and voluntary contributions to be returned by Wednesday 11th March at the latest.

Many thanks

The Very Lonely Firefly Display.

Class 1 have been reading ‘The Very Lonely Firefly’ by Eric Carle. They have drawn a picture about their favourite part of the story. They have then written a sentence from the story to go with their picture. We have used their work to create this fantastic display!

World Book Day – Thursday 5th March

World Book Day

This year for World Book Day we shall be focusing on one book as a whole school.

We have chosen:

The Huge Bag of Worries By Virginia Ironside

We will share the story together as a school and throughout the day each class will take part in activities inspired by the story.

We are also inviting the children to bring in a fruit or vegetable fictional character that they have made.

It could be a parsnip Harry Potter, an apple Mrs Twit or a banana Podkin One Ear!

We look forward to seeing your creations!

Spelling Shed- Reception

Please note that new assignments have been put on Spelling Shed for reception pupils. These lists will help to reinforce their phonics knowledge.

Many thanks

How We Can Look After The World.

Class 1 have been learning about ways we can help to look after the world we live in. We have learnt about the impact of rubbish on the environment and have been on a litter pick around the school grounds. We have also had a lady from Veolia in to talk to us about the importance of recycling and to explain what happens to the things we recycle.
Another issue we have been discussing is plastic pollution and the affect this has on the oceans and wildlife.
The children have been creating posters to emphasise the importance of recycling and highlight the issue of plastic pollution.

The Very Lonely Firefly

One of our class books this term is ‘The Very Lonely Firefly.’ Some of the children in Class 1 have made up their own talk for writing version of the story which they performed to the rest of the class. This will help them to write their own version of the story.
