Remote Learning

Hello!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and Happy New Year to you all, even if if hasn’t started in the way we would of hoped.

As we move to remote learning I felt is was appropriate to highlight a few things that are going to happen that maybe different to the first lockdown. As it stands currently, all learning will be taking place remotely at least until February half term and it is a Government expectation that all children will engage with online learning, completing tasks set for them remotely.

I will post a daily plan for learning and links to any resources on the website and will send an email link to this work to everyone in Class 3 by 9:00. We are respectfully asking that parents acknowledge receipt of this email by 9:30 to confirm they have seen the work set for that day. This is effectively our register for the day. At this point, should there be any barriers or issues that may affect the childrens ability to complete the work for that day, please could you let me  know.

Any completed work should be emailed in and a constructive feedback email will be sent. Should anyone have any issues, child or parent, please email and ask for help. Miss Greenan, Mrs Gennard and myself will be available throughout the day to support and offer guidance as needed.

It is best if work is returned throughout the day if possible, as it can then be acted upon much more immediately. However I completely appreciate this may not always be entirely possible given your personal or family circumstances. Unfortunately, any work returned after 3:30 wont be able to have specific feedback given but please do send it in.

Communication is vital to the success of our remote teaching and learning and it should be a dialogue between us all to help ensure that the children continue on their leaning journey. Should you have any issues, questions, thoughts about anything, please do let me know and I will do my very best to try and help.

I am also going to post the weekly timetable that I would be using in school. This is just an idea of what you can expect in terms of subject coverage throughout the week. Ignore the timings, it is just so you and the children can see what subjects to expect and when.

Many Thanks. We can do this!

Kind regards

Mrs Cains

Parents Evening Appointment Times

If you have returned the booking form requesting an appointment for parents evening, your child will be bringing home a reply slip today which details the time and day of your appointment. This year, appointments are being held  via a 10 minute telephone conversation and I will call you at your given time.

Many Thanks

Our fitness challenge

Class 3 have made a brilliant start to our fitness challenge. We are attempting to run the distance between Aberdeen and Penzance (the longest train journey in the UK).

We have to run a total of 1,162 km. This equates to 3,486 laps of the school field.
So far we have completed 478 laps which is 159 km.

Well done Class 3!

Good Morning.

Please remember to send your child to school dressed in their outdoor PE Kit today. They will stay in it all day so no need for any other uniform.

A great start!

Hello!

First of all, a huge well done to all the children who have returned to school this week. They have been absolutely amazing with all the new routines and procedures in place.

Our topic for this term is ‘Innovators and Inventions’ with a particular focus on the development of railways and trains, especially during the Victorian period and the significant people involved.

In English our whole class reader is The Railway Children and we will be focusing on comprehension and asking questions to improve our undertstanding of the text. We will also be completing descriptive writing, a diary entry, writing stories and exploring characters. We will be reading and responding to the poems From a Railway Carriage by Robert Louis Stephenson and This is the Night Mail Crossing the border By W H Auden. We will also look at performance poetry Song on a Train by David McCord and Hand on the Bridge by Michael Rosen.

In Maths we will be following the White Rose Scheme of work and will be looking at Place Value, Addition and Subtraction and Multiplication and Division. Please as much as possible, encourage your child to keep learning their multiplication tables and quick recall of facts.

In Science we will be looking at States of Matter for the first half term and Electricity and circuits the second half term.

We will also be looking at sketching techniques and Victorian art, learning about famous Victorians and the birth of the railways, locational knowledge of the UK and our railway network.

There will also be some Music sessions, French and Computing.

P.E will be on a Tuesday and Friday and children are to come to school on these days in their outdoor P.E kit as we will be going out whatever the weather!

If you have any questions, please just get in touch.
