Ludlow School Year 5 & 6 Open Evening moving to Virtual

Ludlow CE School are moving their Open Evening which was due to take place next week to a virtual event on 1st October.  Please see their message below –

Ludlow CE School – Open Evening – move to a virtual event

Following a discussion with Shropshire Headteachers, we have made the decision to cancel the Open Evening as a live, face-to-face event, next Wednesday 29th September.  Although our number of Covid-19 cases is currently not high in number, the local community (and upper KS2 children, particularly) have higher numbers, and so it is not in anyone’s best interests to host an evening that could become a “super spreader” event.

We will hold a virtual event from 1st October, on our school website: www.ludlowschool.com, under “News and Events”.

We are very disappointed that our Open Evening cannot take place as planned, but we have taken this decision in, what we believe to be, the best interests of the wellbeing of the school and the community.  Please do contact the school with any queries.

Many thanks, Paula Hearle

School Dinners Next Week

Good News everyone!  Chartwells have called this afternoon to advise that School Meals will be back to normal from Monday.  The menu next week is Week 3.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding this week and providing your children with sandwiches.

An apology from Chartwells

Chartwell’s have asked us to apologise on their behalf for the incorrect menu being served today as we had another cook covering in the kitchen.  The children had beef burgers today and will now be having fish fingers and wedges on Monday.  Once again apologies on their behalf.

Change to PD Days 2021/22

Ordering School Uniform

We are moving to a new way of ordering school uniform.  After half term ordering of school uniform will be directly with the supplier Bristow Club and Sport in Bridgnorth via their website www.schooluniformfactory.co.uk.  Many local schools already successfully use this system for school uniform.

When you order you will be given the option of collection from the shop, free delivery to school or if you would like this sooner you can pay for postage to your home address.  Payment will be by debit or credit card.  Below is an updated list of uniform which will be available and prices.

We do hold small stocks of uniform but will not be replacing these once they are sold.  Stock of all items for age 5/6 is good, please contact the school office to enquire about items in other sizes.

Could you be missing out?

Have your circumstances changed over the last year?  If so, your child may be entitled to Free School Meals, see the qualifying criteria below.

Even if your child is in Class 1 or 2 and entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals, applying now means they can continue to receive a free meal in Key Stage 2.  Schools are also provided with additional funding called Pupil Premium to support or enhance the learning of those pupils who receive free meals.

Claiming doesn’t mean that your child has to take a school meal every day, they can still bring a packed lunch if they wish.

You can apply quickly on-line at www.shropshire.gov.uk/free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals or completing the application form below and e-mailing to fsm@shropshire.gov.uk.

Whittles Bus delayed!

The Whittles bus has been delayed as there is a tractor broken down by the water tower.  He will get to the school as soon as he possibly can but it is very likely that the children who catch this bus will be late.  Whittles phone goes over to emergency calls after 3.30pm but you can still contact them as calls will be diverted to a mobile number.
