Numbots and TTRS certificates will be given out in class – as there’s quite a lot… but well done to all of those that do get one! Remember, TTRS certificates are given out to anyone who improves their studio time since the last well-done assembly, and Numbots certificates are given for each completed stage on Story Mode, as well as the top three pupils with the most levels completed. Starting from this week, we will also have certificates for the top three pupils who answer the most questions correctly on TTRS. Certificates this week include games played during the Christmas holidays.

Urban Biathlon

Last Thursday, 18 children from KS2 took part in an Urban Biathlon. This first started with an (approx) 1-mile mud run and ended with a 100m swim.

Check out the children in action below:

Swimming – 07.12

We have our final swimming session tomorrow. This is an additional session from the original dates. All children in class today were made aware of this; however, I am aware some were absent today and will have therefore missed the message.

Parent Sessions – Scorpions

Today (Thursday 11th), I have sent emails with specific times to those who have requested parent sessions for next week.

If you have not received an email and were expecting one, please let me know and I can amend this.

Netball Festival – POSTPONED

For those attending this week’s netball festival (23rd Sept), it has unfortunately been postponed – and will now take place at the same time next Thursday (30th Sept).

We have been asked that parents please use the Leisure Centre entrance when picking up from BES at 4pm.

Idsall Cross Country – POSTPONED

Tomorrow’s cross country event at Idsall has been postponed. It will hopeful be rearranged for a later date. We will keep you informed if/when we find out a new date.

Albrighton Cross Country

Nineteen Brown Clee children from KS2 took part in a cross country competition yesterday at Albrighton Primary School. Despite the high temperature, they all battled well, finishing in some really impressive positions.

The Year 3 and Year 4 races were around three quarters of a mile – whilst the Year 5 and 6 races were about 1 mile.

Here are some picture of the runners in action

Next week’s event is at Oldbury Well School.

Cross Country

Just a quick note for those attending tomorrow’s after-school cross country event at Albrighton Primary School.

I (Mr Harley) will be attending the event to organise where/when children will be racing. The first race each week will start at 4:30pm and will be Y3 girls and then Y3 boys and so on.

The event organisers have asked all schools to ask parents not to stand or run anywhere on the course and that course marshals will be there to help with this.

Just to clarify, there are three events and the final event at Idsall school is on 21st September and not October as stated on the return slip.

Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly 2021

Here are this year’s Year 6s sharing their memories of their time at Brown Clee.

An extra thank you to the year 5s (Hugo and Ruby) who shared George’s and Aggie’s memories (who both unfortunately were not in school for the last few days).

Tomorrow (Friday) afternoon – Class 4

Tomorrow, Class 4 children will need to come into school in their P.E. kits. Boys are best wearing swimming shorts and P.E. top. Girls can bring a swimming costume – which they can get changed into at lunchtime and then wear under their P.E. kit.

All will need to bring spare clothes to change into at the end of the day. These need to be something which is quick and easy to get changed into.

A large plastic bag would also be useful for transporting wet clothes back home at the end of the day. A towel will also be useful. Hopefully, if the weather is warm enough for the clothes being worn to dry, there will be no need to actually change at the end of the day.

Tomorrow’s trip – picking up

To help ensure social distancing can be maintained, please come on to, and wait on, the playground before picking up at 16:30.

Class 4’s new axolotl: Loki

Recently, Class 4 have had a new axolotl arrive at school – which was kindly gifted by Claire Jones. As well as being a lot smaller (and younger), it’s very different looking to Larry (our loaned axolotl, who has returned to his previous school).

The class eventually decided to call it Loki. He/she (we won’t know which until it’s slightly) older has been settling into its new tank. Also, a big thank you to Shawn at Forty Fathom Aquatics, who kindly donated the tank!

Science – Field Study – Class 4

As part of our science topic on Evolution and Inheritance, Class 4 have been exploring how habitats can vary across the school grounds.

First, we needed to divide the school grounds up to a referable grid – so that we could randomise the areas that we were going to explore, which you can see in the images below:

Each group then had to use a random number generator to decide on which area of the field they were going to investigate first:

Once a group had generated a set of random grid co-ordinates, they needed to use their map to find it – and then place a 30cm quadrat (we made a square used four 30cm rulers) to investigate what the given area was made up from. Once investigated, they would create a new random set of co-ordinates to explore a new area.

Class 4 – Remote Learning – 05.03.21

Good morning.

Here is your (hopefully last ever!) remote session – as we are back to school as normal on Monday!

As mentioned, the plan with our activities over the next week will be to focus on practising key skills to help prepare for the return back to school.

Here is a basic overview of the week. As always, you don’t need to follow this if you don’t wish to.

Maths

Today we will be recapping the key skills from the last couple of weeks.

Recap (2)

I would like you all to have a go at  Q1 and 2 of the extension questions. For those of you feeling up for a challenge, you could also have a go at Q3 and 4. If you’re feeling extra ambitious, you could also have a go at the challenge question.

TTRS / Spelling Shed

Today for Spelling Shed and TTRS, we are going to have some Hive Games and Arena matches.

TTRS arena games are going to be tricky, but if as many of you as possible plan to go on the Arena game mode at 11:00, then there should be enough to play games against each other.

I have also set up some Hive Games on Spelling Shed – we will start the first of these games at 11:40 and once finished, we will start the next game straight after.
Here are the codes for these games:
GAME 1: 141126
GAME 2: 536811
GAME 3:
968651
GAME 4:

Art and Design

For art, we are going to have another draw-along tutorial.

Physical Activity

As mentioned last week, we won’t be doing P.E. this week. However, it would be great if you could do some additional physical activity each day.

For your daily physical activity, I would like you to run, cycle or walk every day (it could just be around your garden – even if it’s quite small!). Then, if you could send me in the distance you have completed (it could be an estimate if you’re not sure), that would be great. A picture of you completing your activity would also be great if you can! The recommended daily physical activity for children (aged 6-17) is at least 60 minutes over a whole day, so for this particular physical activity you could aim for at least 30 minutes.
