Class 1 information: Home-link, Reading and Writing

Home-link

Please find attached details of what we have been learning in Class 1 during our first 2 weeks in school. I have also included some suggestions of things you could do at home, to reinforce what we have been learning in school

I would usually send a book home for the children to bring into school and share their work. Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment. If you and your child would like to share, what they have been doing at home, please email: class1@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk. We will then share their work in school.

Weeks 1&2

 Reading:

I have been really impressed with the amount of children that have been reading their phonics book at home. I cannot stress the importance of reading with your child at home. Please  listen to your child read at home as much as possible. It really does make a huge difference to your child’s progress in reading.

The video clip below will help you to understand how we teach the ‘pure’ pronunciation of sounds in phonics sessions. Learning the pure sounds are key, to help with the process of blending sounds to read words.

Handwriting:

Below is a link to help support handwriting at home. This link shows the correct formation of letters that we have been learning in school.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me on the Class 1 email address.

Many thanks

Class 1’s PE Challenge.

Class 1’s PE challenge, this term, is to see how many times they can run the length of the playground in 3 minutes. The fitness challenge links with our topic work on keeping fit and healthy. They all really enjoyed taking part today.

PE reminder

Just to remind parents that Class 1’s PE sessions are on a Wednesday and Friday. Children will need to come into school in their PE kits on these days, until further notice.

Many thanks,

N.Fox

Welcome to Class 1!

I would like to wish everyone a big, warm welcome to Class 1!

It has been lovely today to meet some of the new reception children today. I was very  impressed by the way they all came into school. They were brilliant.

I am really looking forward to meeting the rest of Class 1 tomorrow!

I have sent all parents an activation link to Tapestry. Please check your emails to activate the link. This will be a way for us to communicate to parents about what their children have been doing in school.

For further information about what the learning that will be taking place this term, please click on the link below.

Autumn 1 2020-21 overview

Please note that PE days will be Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school in their outdoor PE kit on these days (school green PE top, dark tracksuit bottoms and top and trainers- no laces please.) PE sessions will start next week.

As the cloakrooms are out of use, children will have to keep their bags under their tables. Children will need to bring a small bag which can fit in their reading book and a water bottle.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to email me- class1@brownclee.shropshire.sch.uk.

Many thanks

Brown Clee Sports Day.

The end of the Summer term is not the same without a sports day…. so we held a (very different) sports day for the children currently in school. All the children had a great time! Here are some photos of the Foxes and Rabbits enjoying their races.

Dress Up Like a Pirate- Thursday 16th July

The children are thoroughly enjoying their pirate themed week. To enhance their experience, on Thursday, the children can come into school dressed as a pirate. Please do not feel it necessary to buy a new costume. There are lots of great ideas on the internet which can be made using things from home. If children at home would like to join in and dress up like a pirate, that would be great. We would love to see your photos! Yo ho ho, Mrs Fox

Pirates Ahoy!

Shiver me timbers…. Foxes and Rabbits have really enjoyed the start to our pirate themed week.

Yo ho ho!

Well Done Award

This week’s Well Done Award for children at home goes to Sam and Zac Robinson, for their engagement and enthusiasm in their home learning.

Well done boys!

Reception Groupings – 1st Week back in September

With the lack of a normal transition for new reception children, and with the restrictions to ‘normal’ operations in place due to Covid19, we have split the new reception intake into smaller groups for the start of the new year. This will allow staff to support and help children get familiar with their new routines and classroom in a calm, nurtured manner.

Each child will get 2 half days in school – one in a small group of 5 or 6 children, and then in a bigger group of 10 or 11, to allow them to get familiar with the start and end of day routines, as well as having the chance to learn classroom procedures and layout.

We appreciate that this could be difficult for working parents, but we have to put safety and children well-being first – and with a large intake of 22 children, we felt this was the best way to ensure their start in school was positive.

Reception Groupings

Thank you for returning the New Parent Paperwork – Mrs Fox will be contacting each parent individually to talk through the start of term, and answer any questions.  Please do use the class email address to ask any questions ahead of Mrs Fox’s phone call!
