We have been asked by Schools Admissions to share the following message to remind the parents of Year 6 pupils that the closing date for applications is Friday 31st October.  If you have not yet applied, please following the link in the message.

Secondary Application deadline – 31 October 2025

The closing date for secondary applications is 31 October 2025 which falls in the half-term holidays. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to submit an application as soon as possible but before the deadline date. This will ensure that if you encounter any problems, you can be supported/helped and to submit your application on time. There is no grace period for late applications. The Year 6 children should have brought a letter home regarding applying for a place at Secondary School in September 2026. The Admissions Team at Shropshire Council have asked us to share the following message with the parents of Year 6 children –

Dear Parent

Your child is due to transfer to secondary school in September 2026.  The online application process opens on the 1 September 2025 and closes on 31 October 2025.  A letter will be sent home with your child, outlining the process.  Alternatively, please follow this link – Apply to start or transfer school | Shropshire Council  which takes you to the Shropshire Council Admissions website.  Details about secondary school open evenings can be found in the Parents’ Guide to Education in Shropshire booklet, on the same website

 Applications received by Shropshire Council after the closing date will be classed as late, which may result in your child being disadvantaged, so please ensure you make your application on-time. Late applications will not be processed until all on-time applications have been offered.

 Please note your child’s cohort is larger than in previous years.  You can name up to four schools on your application – we encourage parents to make full use of these preferences.  If only one preference is named, and we cannot offer this, we will have no choice on National Offer Day but to offer a place at the next nearest school with a vacancy, which could be a considerable distance from your home address.

As Secondary national offer day is 3 March, the Admissions Team at Shropshire Council would ask the parents of Year 6 pupils to check they can access their account on the Parent Portal.  If, for whatever reason you cannot access your account or are locked out, please email school-admissions@shropshire.gov.uk or phone 0345 678 9008 as soon as possible.  A member of the Admissions Team will look into this and re-set/unlock your account accordingly.

If you have a child in Year 6 and have not yet applied for the place at Secondary school, please submit a late application on the Shropshire Council website.  These will be processed and allocated on 21 March.
