Design Technology – Globes

Scorpions have been creating their own model globes in D.T. this term. They started by first drawing the major lines of latitude and then adding the Prime Meridian. This then allowed them to draw the landmasses using Google Earth as a reference.

Once they had completed this, they then using a range of different pliers (and their hands) to twist, bend and cut aluminum wire to make an arm and axis to allow their globes to spin. This was then fixed to a wooden base using a glue gun.

Safer School Reaccreditation

We held our Safer Schools Meeting last week with staff, governors, children and Ian Bartlett, Shropshire Council’s Safer Schools Officer.  We are delighted to have been awarded Safer School’s Accreditation again:

The following is the report that Ian made following the meeting:

I’d like to congratulate Brown Clee CE Primary School on maintaining their ‘Safer School’ accreditation.  The Safer School initiative is a risk management approach to school security, created by West Mercia Police and supported by Shropshire Council.  The school was accredited in 2012 and has continued annual meetings as a review. Miss Relph recently held a Safer School review meeting. A thorough, positive and productive meeting involving  governors, staff and pupils. The pupils contributed well to the meeting, providing good ideas. An important aspect of the initiative includes involving pupils and parents/carers and the school had carried out surveys for the meeting. Excellent feedback and some good constructive observations. The meeting concluded with the school receiving a new Safer School certificate. Excellent work!

Parking Issue in Private Residential Area

We appreciate that parking is difficult at present with the current necessary building work. However, today, we have had an issue raised by Connexus Housing Association about parking at the rear of properties on Station Road, blocking access to driveways.

They have asked us to remind anyone visiting the school that parking here is strictly for residents only. They have also informed us that they are looking at purchasing signs to try to make it clearer that this is the case and that they will be policing this area in the future to help.
