Sports Day – Delayed Start

We are delaying the start of Sports Day by one hour to allow the grass to dry.

We will now start the races at 11am. Gates will open at 10.45am.

Ditton Priors Twinning Association

Some of you may be aware that Ditton Priors is twinned with the small village of Simple in Northern France. They would love more families to get involved with this and have sent a poster to share which can be found below. A reminder to book meals in ParentPay

If your child requires a school meal, please could you log onto ParentPay and book these as there have been several children this week who have not had their meals booked meaning that staff have had to ask them their menu choice in the morning ensuring that they had a meal they enjoyed. You can book meals 48 hours in advance and it is possible to book up until the end of term. If you do forget to book a meal, please call the school office as we have the facility to book these on the day.

Class & Leaver’s Photographs – new date

Thank you for sending the children into school this morning looking so smart and ready for their photographs. Unfortunately, Chris, is unwell today and has not been able to come into school to take the photographs. We have arranged a new date and Chris and Jo will now be in school on Monday 19th June in the morning.

As today, please could we request that ALL children wear the Active P.E. Uniform please, so that everyone is wearing the one type of uniform – and this will be the only one that ALL children have due to the transition.

Class and Leaver’s Photographs – Monday 5th June 2023

Chris and Jo Maddox will be in school to take the Class and Leaver’s photographs on Monday 5th June, the first day back after half term. Please could all children wear their Active (PE) Uniform on this day as school uniform.

Holiday Activities

We have been asked by Shrewsbury Sports Village and The Discovery Centre in Craven Arms to share the holiday activities which they are running over half term. Please see the attached posters for more information and booking details. Shrewsbury Sports Village charge £22.50 for an extended day from 8am to 6pm and £20.90 for a normal day of 9am to 5pm.

No Creative Arts after school – Wednesday 10th May

We have been informed this afternoon that Kath is unable to hold the Creative Arts After School Club tomorrow and she sends her apologies for this. If you require your child to go into Care Club please contact Mrs Boxall on the Care Club e-mail address.

School Lunches – Tuesday 2nd May

Pippa has asked us to let you know of a change in menu next Tuesday. The 2 main choices will be Pizza and Vegetable Chilli. Unfortunately, we cannot amend the menu in ParentPay to reflect this change. If your child would like Pizza please select the Chicken Hotpot option and if they would like the Vegetable Chilli please select the Vegetable Chow Mein option. As always, there will also be the choice of Jacket Potato and Cheese or Ham sandwich.

Whittles Bus Delayed – Wednesday 29th March

We have just received a telephone call from Whittles to say that the bus is stuck in traffic and will be approximately 15 minutes late. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Mothering Sunday Church Service

There will be a service of Morning Praise at St John the Baptist Church, Ditton Priors on Mothering Sunday 19th March at 9.45am. Potted plants will be given to Mothers, Grandmothers and Godmothers.

Amendment to school dinner menu – Thursday 16th March

As previously advised, due to the weather conditions last week, the catering delivery for the kitchen did not take place and, therefore, Pippa has had to make changes to the menu for Thursday. If you have booked Keralan Chicken Curry for your child they will be having sausages and herby diced potatoes, the cauliflower and sweet potato masala will be served as planned. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Due to the weather conditions last week, the catering delivery for the kitchen did not take place and, therefore, Pippa has had to make changes to the menu tomorrow. If you have booked chicken noodle stir fry for your child they will be having chicken pie and if they were booked to have vegetable lasagne they will be having Chinese rice. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Shropshire HAF Easter Programme

Shropshire will again be running the government’s Holiday Activities and Food Programme during the Easter holidays. Children in receipt of Free School Meals can access these activities for free by using the unique code for our school which has been e-mailed to them today.
Other children are also welcome to join many of the sessions for a small fee and you will find further information in the HAF Spring 2023 booklet below.

Hill Bus Delayed

We have just received a message from Alan to say that there has been an unexpected road closure and as a consequence he is running 10 to 15 minutes late. We will keep the children in school until he arrives.

Working on your Relationship

The Parenting Team at Shropshire Council will be running a Working on your Relationship courses starting in March which runs for 4 weeks. This workshop looks at relationships, their dynamics, impacts and how we can improve them. For more details please see the attached poster.

Brown Clee Care and Share Pantry

Please see the poster below with information about the Brown Clee Care and Share Pantry which is a partnership between Brown Clee Patients Group, Oak Farm/Bethphage and Bridgnorth Food Bank. This is where you can make donations, if you are able, of packaged, bottled, dried or canned foods and also toiletries or alternatively if you need their help The Pantry will be inside the entrance to Oak Farm (see the poster for opening days and times).

Free Karate Trial Lesson

We have been given 4 Guest Passes for a free trial lesson with Shushokan Karate at Teme Leisure, Ludlow on a Monday evening from 6.15pm to 7.00pm. If you would like one of these, please call by the school office where they are being kept. Pre-booking is essential. The poster below gives more information including contact details.

Well Done Assembly

We will be holding our first Well Done of the assembly of the year tomorrow morning which will take place in the school hall at 9am. Please do join us if you can.

Considerate Parking and driving

Now that the builders are no longer on site, please could we remind parents and carers to park considerately in the morning and at the end of the day. Please do not park in the road at the rear of the properties in Station Road as this is private and strictly for residents only. Connexus Housing Association are looking at erecting signs advising this and have previously advised that they will be policing this.

Could we also ask that you drive considerately and slowly on the school grounds for the safety of the pupils and their families.

Shropshire Council have asked us to share the attached Consultation on Admissions Arrangements with our parents. The consultation period will last for 6 weeks ending on 20th January 2023.

School Photographs

Chris Maddox, the School Photographer, has been in touch today and has advised that he will be delivering the photographs to school on Thursday. Depending on what time they arrive, they will be sent home on Thursday or Friday.

Nativity Performance Tickets

We have now sold out of tickets for the evening performance but do still have some left for the daytime performance on Thursday 15th December at 2pm. If you would like additional tickets for this performance please complete the form below and return to the school office with payment.

School Christmas Dinner will be served on Wednesday 14th December, please see the attached poster for the menu. As we cannot amend the menu in ParentPay for one day, if your child would like the festive vegetable bake please click on the vegan sausage casserole as the lunch option. If you have not yet activated your child’s ParentPay account and would like an activation letter please contact the school office. Please remember that meals need to be booked 48 hours in advance.

Christmas Light Switch on

Ditton Priors will be turning on the Christmas lights this coming Thursday 1st December at 6.30pm at St John the Baptist Church.

Come along and enjoy the first carols of the season, followed by mulled wine and mince pies.

Parking Issue in Private Residential Area

We appreciate that parking is difficult at present with the current necessary building work. However, today, we have had an issue raised by Connexus Housing Association about parking at the rear of properties on Station Road, blocking access to driveways.

They have asked us to remind anyone visiting the school that parking here is strictly for residents only. They have also informed us that they are looking at purchasing signs to try to make it clearer that this is the case and that they will be policing this area in the future to help.

 

Poppy Appeal

Thank you very much to everyone who gave so generously to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. We have heard today that the school raised £107.36 and the total for the Ditton Priors area was £1,797.68. Once again thank you very much.

School Christmas Dinner

School Christmas Dinner will be served on Wednesday 14th December, please see the menu below. As we are unable to change the menu for individual days in ParentPay, if your child would like Roast Turkey please select the roast option (which is Turkey on that day) and if your child would like the vegetarian option please select the vegan sausage casserole. All meals must be pre-booked in ParentPay (and paid for if applicable) at least 48 hours in advance. If you would like your child’s ParentPay activation letter, please contact the school office.

St John the Baptist Church in Ditton Priors will be holding their annual Christingle Service this coming Sunday, 27th November at 4pm. Everyone is welcome.

The qualifying criteria for free school meals are:

* Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
* The guaranteed element of pension credit
* Child tax credit (provided you’re not also entitled to working tax credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
