Reflection Time and Prayer of the Day

Good Morning Brown Clee!

This half term our Christian value is Courage, and we have talked and thought about what courage is and how it can take many forms.  Today I’d like to think about how sometimes it can take courage to just be you!

We have talked about how we are all different, and how we should be proud of who we are, and that our differences make the world a much brighter and more interesting place.  But sometimes our differences can attract negative attention, and this can cause us to feel sad and lonely, and it might make us want to not try or give up – which is why it is so important to learn to be brave and be proud of who we all are – and always strive to be the best person we can be.

Here is the story of one 9 year old boy called Ezra – who is different because he only has one leg, but he has the most amazing outlook on life and immense courage….have a watch and see what you think (his story finishes at 3 minutes 47 seconds, but I don’t know (yet!) how to edit it to stop it there – sorry!)

Why is Ezra brave? How would you feel if you only had one leg or arm?   Could you be as brave as Ezra?  Ezra is rightly ok and happy with who he is and is an inspiration to us all……to be happy in who we are, to be confident and courageous about our differences and to appreciate our own individual lives….

We have another song to sing as well today as it is Rueben’s birthday today – so Happy Birthday Rueben!!

Prayer of the Day

Dear God,
Thank you that you have given us different things to be good at in our lives.
Please help each one of us to find something we are good at
and to get even better at it this week.
Help us to be brave and confident, and to keep going even when it’s hard.
Amen.
