Sabrina Boat & Shrewsbury Abbey Class Trip

Yesterday, Grasshoppers went on their class trip to Shrewsbury. We began our day with a river cruise on the Sabrina boat. The children enjoyed the views from the river and spotted ducks by the bank. Our skipper, Ian, gave a us a commentary along the way.

After the boat trip, we walked through the Quarry Park to The Dingle Garden and looked at the beautiful flowers on display. We found a shaded area to have our lunch as it was a hot day.

We then walked through the town centre and across the English Bridge to Shrewsbury Abbey. Here we were given a demonstration of the organ. The largest pipes are over 25 feet high and it has three keyboards. Two of the children were lucky enough to have a go!

We were given a tour of the Abbey. We looked at the altar, font, Lady Chapel, choir pews and listened to stories about the beautiful stained glass windows.

We had a wonderful time and the children were brilliant.
