On Tuesday 6th March 17 pupils from Brown Clee took part in the Shropshire School Games at Shrewsbury Sports Village representing East Shropshire.
The event started with an impressive opening ceremony where there was some amazing dance and singing performances. This was then followed by a talk from Danielle Brown, a Paralympic Archery Champion! She then read out the School Games pledge and the School Games began!
Brown Clee qualified to take part in the KS2 Small Schools Tag Rugby, KS2 Basketball and Cross Country.
Congratulations to Phoebe and Chloe who produced brilliant performances in the Cross Country. The course was very long and muddy and was a real challenge for the competitors. Phoebe finished in 26th place in the Year 5/6 Girls race and Chloe came 19th in the Year 3/4 Girls.
Daisy, Luca, Sophie, Nicolas, Holly and Tom C took part in the KS2 Basketball. The team played together very well as a together and were up against some tough opposition. They finished 5th overall, well done to everyone who took part.
Ashton, Nathan, Charlie, Niamh, Jessica, Tom Cass, Tom O, Seth and Louis took part in the KS2 Small Schools Tag Rugby. After winning the East Shropshire Partnership tournament we knew we had a strong team and had confidence going into the tournament. The first game was against Burton Borough and the team had a brilliant start winning that game 6-1. This was then followed by another impressive win against Shrewsbury 8-2 and another victory against Langley 7-0. The next match was a very important one as we were up against one of the strongest teams in the competition and the favorites to win the tournament. After a very close game Brown Clee managed to beat South Shropshire 4-3 which was a brilliant achievement. Unfortunately in the final match the team lost their rhythm slightly and lost their final match against North Shropshire.
Overall the team came 2nd, an absolutely brilliant achievement and every single member of the team should be proud of their performance. Top try scorers were, Seth, Tom, Louis and Jessica.
