Reflection Time and Prayer of the Day

Good Morning Brown Clee!

By now you’ll know that tomorrow is the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day.  You might not know that the Germans actually signed their surrender today, on the 7th May 1945!

I know that the teachers have been linking their daily activities this week to this theme, but I thought it would be good to share a short video of the history of VE Day, as it is such a significant day in the world’s history.

VE DAY VIDEO

Can you imagine what it must have felt like to wake up one morning and have peace after 6 years of war. No more bombers and fighters flying overhead, no more air raid sirens and dashing into bunkers, no more carrying gas masks. People must have felt a whole range of emotions, one of which most certainly would have been joy!

Hopefully tomorrow you will party, with Union Jacks and bunting, and maybe enjoy your own garden party!  Don’t forget to send in photos to your teachers by noon of you wearing red, white and blue and we will put them together into a whole school VE Day montage!

Here is a song to celebrate VE Day too: “KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON”

Prayer of the Day

Dear God,
We pray today for peace,
Peace in our world, between nations and between individuals.
We pray for peace in our hearts and in our relationships.
We pray for peace in our schools and communities.
Please keep us free from fear and free from anxiety.
We ask for the courage to live a life of love today,
A life in which we actively work for peace through our words and our actions.
We commit this day to you and to peace.
Amen.
