In the summer term we had a visit from Joy Murphy from the Karibuni Trust. The charity was originally set up by Joy’s daughter, Corinne and if you click here you can find out more about it:
Joy taught us all about the work the charity does to support children and families in need in different areas of Kenya, and she carried out a workshop in Class 1. She also taught us that a working party head out to Kenya each February to support the different projects in place.
We would like to support Karibuni as an ongoing project, so we asked Joy how we could help, and she mentioned that the schools are always short of pencils. So this year we would like to collect pencils (writing and coloured), along with pencil sharpeners (George R’s idea!) so that Joy and her team can take them out to Kenya when they go in February 2020.
So if you would like to donate any pencils or sharpeners to the Karibuni Trust there are collection baskets in the Reception Area at school, along with information on some of their projects.
