Welcome to Class 3!

Our class this year is made up of 31 Year 3 & 4 children and our topic this term is Ancient Egypt

In English, our Whole Class Reading book for this term is Secrets of a Sun King by Emma Carroll. We will also be looking at Egyptian Myths, Newspaper Articles, Instructions and Poetic Imagery. In our writing, we will look at creating setting and describing characters using descriptive and interesting vocabulary and we will be writing a newspaper report and our own version of an Egyptian Myth.

In Maths we will be following the White Rose Scheme of work and focus on Fractions and Decimals.

In Science our focus is on Animals including Humans. We will look at nutrition, the human body ,teeth and the digestive system. We will look at diet and exercise and the importance of sleep.

For our topic of Ancient Egypt, we will learn lots about Egypt as an Ancient Civilisation and what life was like. We will also look at Egypt as a place and the importance of The River Nile. Linked to this in Geography we will be looking very closely at Rivers and what a River is.

In Computing we will be learning about Coding using a program called Scratch.

P.E is on a Tuesday and Friday and this term we will be focusing on Rounders and Cricket.


Homework in class 3 is to read regularly – alongside practising spellings and times tables. We currently use interactive online games – which are particularly effective for helping with these. Links to Times Tables Rockstars and Spelling Shed can be found below.
