Last week, Class 4 visited Shrewsbury. At Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, we took part in a workshop – which included exploring World War Two artifacts, creating our own toys and making mock banana sandwiches (using parsnips). In the afternoon, we visited Soliders of Shropshire Museum at Shrewsbury Castle – which was full of information about soliders from Shropshire who had fought in the last 300 years. An especially interesting fact we discovered was that Thomas William Priday (a Corporal in the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry) was the first British soldier to be killed in action during the Second World War.
