After School Activity Clubs letter JUNE 2022
We have now filled the last space for Multi Sports After School Club
We have had a cancellation for multi-sports club which is held on a Friday afternoon. The club is open to Grasshoppers, Dragonflies or Scorpions. There is just one space available, and it will be offered on a first come first served basis. If your child would like to join multi-sports club please send in written confirmation and payment (£20) to the office. E-mail requests unfortunately will not be accepted.
Today, 24 pupils from KS2 took part in a tag rugby competition at Swancote (Bridgnorth Rugby Club) – making up three teams competing.
All the children showed fantastic focus, determination and teamwork throughout the whole competition.
Our C team finished in joint third position in the plate (second competition) – with our B team winning this competition. Our A team were undefeated throughout and eventually went on to become the overall main competition winners!
Brown Clee were also one of two teams voted by the sports leaders officiating the event as “consistently demonstrating the sporting value of Respect” throughout the competition – something which, alongside their impressive finishing positions, all the teams should be additionally proud of achieving
As the overall winners of the East Shropshire Tag Rugby Competition, the A team will have the opportunity to represent East Shropshire in the Summer Games (date to be confirmed).
Thank you to all parents for engaging with us following on from the e-mails sent out yesterday.
All After School Clubs are now fully booked.
We are currently working with Parent Pay in the hope that in the very near future all bookings will be able to be made via their platform. We understand that this would make things a little easier for everyone and thank you for your patience while this is being investigated.
Could we please ask that all Care club booking requests for the first week back after the Easter Holidays are sent in by lunch time next Thursday 7th April at the latest.
We are really pleased that parents of children taking part in Theatre Arts After School Club will be able to watch the end of term show. This will take place next Tuesday 5th April in the school hall.
Could parents please arrive at 4pm to watch the children perform.
Can we kindly ask that you do not attend if you have any symptoms of Covid or if there is a confirmed positive case in your household.
Please find attached letter providing details of next half term’s after school clubs
Here’s an update on each class’s running challenges for this term.
Fireflies are attempting to run the distance from Ditton Priors to Shrewsbury (the birthplace of Charles Darwin) – 22.3 miles – as many times as they can.
Grasshoppers are attempting to run the distance of the Sydney Harbour Bridge (in Australia) – 1,149 metres – as many times as they can.
Dragonflies are attempting to run the length of the Shropshire border – 497km.
Scorpions are attempting to run the distance from Nordland (in Norway) to Lindisfarne (the first known Viking raid of a monastery in England) and back – ~2,000 miles.
Last Thursday, 18 girls from Years 3-6 took part in a recent girls’ football at Bridgnorth Endowed School.
All the girls showed a fantastic level of commitment, determination and teamwork throughout. The teams’ performances were particularly impressive given the number of Year 3s and 4s we had taking part in a Year 5/6 competition- and our unfortunately diminished team sizes (with 2 teams having to play with only 6 players against 7).
Ten Pupils from Scorpions and Fireflies took part in the East Shropshire Sports Partnership swimming gala at William Brookes School this Thursday.
All the swimmers showed fantastic determination, team-spiritedness and confidence in helping Team Brown Clee to eventually finish in an incredible second place overall – an especially impressive feat given the small size of our school!

Class Challenge
How far can you walk or run whilst you are at home? You could run laps of the garden or a route around the house. Send us the distance you cover and we will add it to the class total. I wonder whether we will finish our second lap around the Shropshire border during half term…
I look forward to being back in class with you all again soon.
Best wishes,
Mrs Heath
I have been asked by several parents if there is football after school club running this week as apparently some children were told by the Activ Sports coach that last Friday was the last session. Football club IS on this Friday as normal.
We have been looking at the work of landscape artist William Heaton Cooper. We have learned about using one point perspective in our drawing and have used colour to add perspective to our paintings. We have learned that we can use lighter to darker shades to show perspective.
We laid our paintings out and had a critique session. We discussed the use of colour and shared our observations with each other.
Could I please ask that any Care Club booking requests for when we return after half term are made by noon on Thursday 17th February.
We return to school on Wednesday 2nd March and bookings for the first two weeks can be made.

Dear God,
Thank you for our wonderful school.
Help us to be good learners.
Help us to look after each other.
Help us to be respectful and kind, and to make everyone welcome.
May our school be a happy, safe place – where learning is fun,
where we all work together to be the best we can be.
Amen
Happy new year Dragonflies! I hope that you had a super time with your families over the Christmas break and am looking forward to seeing you all back in school tomorrow!
This term our topic is Sensational Shropshire! Take a look at the page below to find out more about our learning:
Our P.E. days remain the same this term, so please come into school in your P.E kits on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Last Thursday, 18 children from KS2 took part in an Urban Biathlon. This first started with an (approx) 1-mile mud run and ended with a 100m swim.
Check out the children in action below:
Can I please ask that all bookings required for Care Club for the first two weeks of the new Spring Term are e-mailed to me by Thursday 16th December latest. Please note that we return to school on Wednesday 5th January 2022
This week is the last week this term for after school clubs, there are no school clubs in the last week of Autumn term
Please also note that after school clubs will be re-starting on the week commencing 10/1/22
There are no clubs during the first week back at school in January
Due to the current situation we think it advisable not to take the Scorpions (Year 5/6) children to the swimming session tomorrow. This is purely as a precautionary measure to minimise any risk. Dragonflies will be swimming.
Here are some photos from the latest shared reading session between Fireflies and Scorpions.
On the original notice about swimming sessions at the beginning of term I had asked children to come in their school uniforms every Tuesday to go to the pool.
However, after discussion with Mr Harley we have decided that it would be better for children to come in their school PE kits.
Many thanks,
Mrs Heath
