Y3&4 Wordlist

Don’t forget to keep working hard to learn the Year 3 & 4 spellings! How many can you spell? Challenge yourself to beat your own score each time you try…

It is also worth keeping the Y1 & 2 words in mind for accurate spelling in your written work. If you know that there are some of these words that you are unsure of please keep working on these too.

Spellings

The words for the spellings this week are from the Y3 & Y4 statutory spelling lists. We will have our termly Spellathon, where we try spelling all the words, on Friday December 14th. Don’t forget to look at them at home! You will be able to see the list by scrolling right down to the bottom of this page. Let’s try to smash the scores from the beginning of the year!

A fantastic week for spellings with all children scoring 8, 9 or 10 out of 10 in their tests! Don’t forget you can use Spelling Shed to help you too. This week we have some scientific words, as we begin exploring states of matter in our Science work.

Super work on your spellings this week Class 3. Don’t forget to spell the words that you know accurately in your writing when you choose to use them!

Well done Class 3 – you’re getting much better at remembering that proper nouns, such as October and Wednesday, always need to start with capital letters.

Please remember: Bring your spelling book into school every Friday!

Children in Class 3 had their first spelling test of the year today and it was great to see how many of them had worked really hard to learn them at home.

Keep up the good work Class 3!

Children in Class 3 worked very hard on their spellings last year and should have been very proud of their achievements! Spelling sessions will take place on a daily basis again in Class 3 this year.

Three sessions each week will focus on spelling patterns and the fourth will focus on words from the statutory word list. Every Friday the children will have a spelling test and new words will be given to learn during the following week.

Please find a copy of the statutory word list here:

Well done Class 3!

Year 3s and 4s in Class 3 did their spelling challenge yesterday, to see how many words they could spell that they hadn’t been able to spell previously. I was very pleased with the progress that all the children had made and was particularly pleased with George R, who knew 40 words more than he did last time! Well done George!
