Bees trip to Shrewsbury museum Yesterday Bees enjoyed a trip to Shrewsbury Museum to take part in a workshop about Evolution and Inheritance. We have begun to investigate this as part of our science learning this term. Our workshop leader was Hannah. She began with a timeline of the life of Charles Darwin, a leading scientist who researched and wrote about evolution. We had to place artefacts related to his life along the timeline. We then looked at fossils of trilobites and ammonites. We looked at their similarities and differences. We looked for variations relating to evolution and why certain types of these organisms would have survived and others died out. Hannah showed us replica skulls of early humans and a 200 year old chimpanzee skull. We looked at how these early humans have evolved over millions of years into modern humans. It was a really interesting workshop, we were able to put our classroom learning into practice by handling the artefacts and fossils. We discussed with each other what we could see and better understand how scientists use evidence and questioning to test their theories. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and would like to thank Shrewsbury Museum for hosting the workshop.
